BARRY HEARN MAKES HIS DEBUT AT THE 2024 US OPEN CHAMPIONSHIP
Barry Hearn OBE, President of Matchroom Sports, made his much-anticipated debut at the prestigious 2024 US Open Championship, joined by renowned TalkSport radio host Andy Goldstein.
This year marks the 47th edition of the prestigious US Open Championship, returning to Harrahâs Resort for the fourth consecutive year in partnership with Caesars Entertainment and the Atlantic City Sports Commission, along with renowned broadcasters Sky Sports and DAZN.
LIVE SCORES/BRACKETS
Both Barry Hearn and Andy Goldstein finally stepped onto the World Nineball Tour, having agreed to compete in the historic US Open Pool Championship during last yearâs Mosconi Cup.
Although he fell short in his opening match, losing 9-1, âThe Guvânorâ Hearn captivated the audience with an impressive long shot 2-9 combo that earned him his first rack against Polish star Konrad Juszczyszyn. In an effort to remain in contention during the losersâ qualification round, Hearn faced Barry Hetherington in his second match but was unable to carry his luck forward, failing to secure a single rack and resulting in his exit from the tournament.
Reflecting on his debut, Hearn stated, âI have been involved with this sport all my life. I enjoy the game, the personalities, the rules, and the complexities. Today was a combination of all that. People think itâs an easy game, but itâs anything but. Today was up there with the top moments of my life.â
Unfortunately, Andy Goldstein did not share Hearnâs fortune in his first match, suffering a whitewash at the hands of former World Champion Ralf Souquet. The âGailforceâ sought redemption in his next match, initially leading 3-0 against John Francisco. However, Goldstein was unable to maintain his early momentum, ultimately handing Francisco the opportunity to run the racks and finish the game 8-3.
In pursuit of his sixth US Open title, five-time champion Shane Van Boening delivered a solid start, defeating fellow American Eric Roberts 9-3 on day two. Following in Van Boeningâs footsteps, Mosconi Cup Team USA captain Skyler Woodward secured a tough 9-4 victory against Ali Al Obaidli to advance to the winnersâ qualification round alongside Team Europe captain Jayson Shaw.

MICKEY KRAUSE IS THE 2024 EUROPEAN OPEN CHAMPION
Mickey Krause has claimed the title of 2024 European Open Pool champion, defeating Johann Chua 12-8 at Hotel Esperanto in Fulda, Germany.
Final Result:
Mickey Krause 12-8 Johann Chua
The match began as a tactical battle, with Chua taking the first rack and Krause responding in kind. In the third rack, Chua led initially but faltered on a 2-7 combo, allowing Krause to seize the opportunity and take the lead.
In the fourth rack, Krause made a sharp jump shot on the 3-ball but left himself hooked on the 5-ball. Chua had a chance to level the score but missed a crucial 6-ball, allowing Krause to maintain his lead. The Danish Viking then extended his advantage by winning three consecutive racks, including a skilful long bank shot on the 6-ball in the fifth, bringing the score to 4-1.
Krauseâs momentum was briefly interrupted when he scratched on an attempt to pot the 6-ball, giving Chua a chance to pull back a rack. However, Chuaâs fortune turned in the following rack when he scratched on the 8-ball, enabling Krause to continue his rack-winning streak.

JOHANN CHUA AND MICKEY KRAUSE TO CONTEST 2024 EUROPEAN OPEN CHAMPIONSHIP FINAL
Johann Chua and Mickey Krause will face off in the final of the 2024 European Open Championship in Fulda, Germany.
Now in its third year, the European Open Championship returns to Hotel Esperanto, in partnership with the City of Fulda, the local sports authority Fulda Die Sportstadt, and renowned broadcaster Sky Sports.
LIVE SCORES/BRACKETS
Johann Chua began his semi-final clash on a strong note, winning the lag and quickly establishing a two-rack lead over Shane Van Boening. However, a foul in the third rack after a failed attempt to hit the 2-ball gave Van Boening the chance to run the table. The American was poised to capitalise, but a miscue on the 9-ball allowed Chua to regain control and extend his lead.
In the fifth rack, Chuaâs failed safety on the 4-ball finally opened the door for Van Boening, who seized the opportunity to take two consecutive racks. Despite scratching on the break in the next rack, Van Boening managed to recover after Chua struggled with a difficult 9-ball shot.
A scratch by Van Boening in the eighth rack handed "Bad Koi" Chua the momentum he needed to charge ahead, reaching the hill. Chua then delivered a flawless run of the table to secure his place in the European Open Championship final.

VAN BOENING, WOODWARD, CHUA, AND KRAUSE SECURE SEMI FINAL SPOTS FOR 2024 EUROPEAN OPEN CHAMPIONSHIP
Shane Van Boening, Skyler Woodward, Johann Chua, and Mickey Krause have advanced to the semi-finals of the 2024 European Open Championship in Fulda, Germany.
Now in its third year, the European Open Championship returns to Hotel Esperanto, in partnership with the City of Fulda, the local sports authority Fulda Die Sportstadt, and renowned broadcaster Sky Sports.
LIVE SCORES/BRACKETS
In a highly anticipated clash of former World Pool Champions, Shane Van Boening faced off against Francisco Sanchez Ruiz. Despite El Ferrari taking an early 3-1 lead, a critical errorâan intentional foul attempt to tie the 2 and 3 ballsâallowed Van Boening, to capitalise with an impressive eight-rack run, bringing him to the brink of victory. A missed 3-ball by Van Boening in the 13th rack offered Ruiz a glimmer of hope as he claimed two more racks.
However, Ruiz faltered with a missed 2-ball in the 15th rack, and despite a further opportunity after Van Boening missed the 6-ball, Ruiz's own error in hooking himself on the 2-ball off the break ultimately sealed his fate, allowing the South Dakota Kid to step closer to his first European Open title.
