Predator Euro Tour Player Benefits Increase for 2025

PLAYER BENEFITS INCREASE FOR 2025

Press release courtesy of Predator Group

10th May 2025

WITH THE PREDATOR Euro Tour looking forward to its third event of the 2025 season with the Predator Austrian Open presented by JO Sankt Johann in Salzburg, the IBPF can announce that henceforth the eight top ranked players in the open division as well as the top four ranked from the women’s standings will have their entry fees and hotel accommodation costs covered.

These benefits commenced at last month’s Estonian Open, using the Euro Tour rankings following the Italian Open in February and will be available at each Euro Tour going forward. It will apply to the top ranked qualifying players prior to the commencement of each event. In addition, the IPBF has scrapped the players’ 5% sanction fee which was applicable on entry fees.

Commented Euro Tour veteran Roman Hybler, who’s fifth place finish last time out in Estonia, launched him into the top eight; “I think it's a really good move for the players. If they know that the top eight will be paid the entry and hotel, it’s an added incentive and a new goal. Expenses are a significant factor for a pro player and I’m all in favour of moves like this to reduce them.”

ALOYSIUS YAPP CROWNED 2025 UK OPEN CHAMPION IN RUTHLESS FINAL PERFORMANCE

Aloysius Yapp delivered a breathtaking performance at the 2025 UK Open Pool Championship, cruising to a commanding 13-1 victory over Spain’s Jonas Souto to claim his first-ever Matchroom Major title.

Final Result
Aloysius Yapp 13–1 Jonas Souto

Yapp, who won the lag, wasted no time asserting control. A precise 7-9 combo in the opening rack set the tone, followed by a two-rack burst to take a quick 3-0 lead. The Singaporean’s break continued to produce ideal layouts, and his clinical cueing saw him stretch the advantage to 5-0 without error.

As Souto remained frozen in his chair, Yapp put together a series of flawless clearances, showcasing his composure and control. By rack six, the score was 6-0.

In the seventh, Yapp left a tough safety on the 2-ball. Souto eyed a tricky 2-9 combo but failed to convert, handing control straight back to Yapp, who calmly extended his lead to 7-0.

Yapp’s momentum momentarily faltered in rack eight after missing a long shot on the 3-ball. Souto returned to the table with a chance to get on the board but left himself poor shape on the 9, allowing Yapp to steal yet another rack.

SOUTO AND YAPP SET FOR TITLE SHOWDOWN

Jonas Souto and Aloysius Yapp are set to clash in the final of the 2025 UK Open Pool Championship, with both players chasing their maiden Matchroom Major title in Telford.

Now in its fourth edition, the UK Open runs from May 6–11 with the first four days streamed live on WNT TV, before the final stages are broadcast on Sky Sports across the UK & Ireland.

In the semi-finals, Jonas Souto impressed with a composed and confident performance against the former European Open champion Mickey Krause. The Spaniard took an early lead after escaping a tight safety on the 7-ball in the opening rack and never looked back. Krause struggled to settle, and a failed 6-ball in the fourth handed Souto a 4-0 cushion. Krause finally found a lifeline in the fifth after Souto parked the 4-ball, sparking a short-lived comeback.

Despite Krause narrowing the gap to 7-4 after a series of tactical exchanges, Souto held his nerve. A dry break from Krause in the fourteenth allowed Souto to regain momentum, running the rack to reach the hill. Krause's final chance slipped away with a scratch off the 1-ball, giving Souto the opportunity to clear and seal his place in a Matchroom Major final for the very first time.

YAPP, SOUTO, KRAUSE, STYER HEAD INTO FINAL FOUR

Aloysius Yapp, Jonas Souto, Mickey Krause, and Tyler Styer have booked their places in the semi-finals of the 2025 UK Open Pool Championship after a gripping Day Five in Telford. Meanwhile, British hopes came to a close as home favourite Jayson Shaw exited the tournament in the quarterfinals, missing out on a first UK Open title.

Now in its fourth edition, the UK’s premier pool tournament runs from May 6–11, with the final stages broadcast across the UK & Ireland on Sky Sports, and across USA on WNT TV.

In a repeat of their 2021 US Open final showdown, Aloysius Yapp faced Carlo Biado in the Last 16. The Singaporean star wasted no time, storming to an 8–0 lead after a string of costly errors from Biado. Although Biado snatched racks nine and ten to threaten a comeback, a missed 3–6 combo in rack eleven handed Yapp the opening he needed to wrap up a 10–2 victory. Yapp then faced Phuong Nam Pham, who had advanced after knocking out Reyes Cup teammate Duong Quoc Hoang. Yapp stayed composed and clinical, racing to a 10–3 win to secure his first-ever UK Open semi-final appearance.

Jonas Souto continued his sensational run in Telford with two emphatic wins. After dismantling Mateusz Śniegocki 10–2, the Spaniard came up against crowd favourite Jayson Shaw. Souto raced to a 6–1 lead as Shaw struggled with errors and poor positioning. Despite brief signs of a fightback, Souto remained dominant, sealing a 10–3 win to deny Shaw a chance at a maiden UK crown.

CAPITO CRASHES OUT IN TITLE DEFENCE AS YAPP ENDS UK OPEN REIGN

Robbie Capito’s title defence came to a bitter end in the Last 64 of the 2025 UK Open Pool Championship, falling 10-7 to close friend and Singaporean standout Aloysius Yapp, who delivered a clinical performance to derail the Hong Kong star’s hopes of back-to-back UK Open glory.

Now in its fourth edition, the UK Open runs from May 6–11, with the final stages broadcast across the UK & Ireland on Sky Sports, and across USA on WNT TV.

Yapp reached the hill first in their tightly contested match, but Capito dug in, fighting to stay alive in the tournament. A clever safety on the two-ball looked to swing momentum in Capito’s favour—but Yapp responded with a sublime jump shot to pot the two, clean up the rack, and seal a 10-7 victory. The loss marked a painful early exit for Capito in his first-ever title defence.

Another big name to bow out was former UK Open champion Joshua Filler, who breezed past compatriot Can Salim in the Last 64, but fell 10-8 to American Tyler Styer in the Last 32. Styer kept the pressure high throughout, stunning the European Open champion with a composed and errorless display.

Meanwhile, Jayson Shaw and Mickey Krause—both recent Mosconi Cup standouts—powered into the Last 16. Shaw was in imperious form, dispatching two top talents from Chinese Taipei: first Chang Jung-Lin, followed by Lu Hui Chan in the Last 32. Krause followed his former captain’s lead, staging a gritty 10-8 comeback win against Spain’s David Alcaide before cruising to a 10-4 victory over Marc Bijsterbosch.

Fresh off dismantling the reigning champion, Aloysius Yapp then faced fellow Singaporean Nicholas Tann in the Last 32, producing a confident 10-5 win to continue his charge. Joining him in the Last 16 are his Reyes Cup teammates Carlo Biado and Duong Quoc Hoang, who each showed remarkable resilience under pressure.

SHAW SURGES AS CAPITO STUMBLES IN TITLE DEFENCE

Day Three of the 2025 UK Open Pool Championship saw fortunes shift at the Telford International Centre, as defending champion Robbie Capito faltered in his title defence while home favourite Jayson Shaw continued his dominant march toward a maiden UK Open crown.

Now in its fourth edition, the UK Open runs from May 6–11 with the first four days streamed live on WNT TV, before the final stages are broadcast on Sky Sports across the UK & Ireland.

Capito endured a rocky start to the day, suffering a 9-3 defeat to Poland’s Konrad Juszczyszyn that sent him to the Losers’ Bracket. With his championship hanging by a thread, the Hong Kong star bounced back with a resounding 9-2 victory over Hubert Lopotko to stay in contention for the single elimination rounds.

Meanwhile, Jayson Shaw kept the home crowd roaring with a clinical 9-4 win over fellow Brit Tony Burton, booking his place in the Last 64. By contrast, Skyler Woodward’s route became more complicated. The former Mosconi Cup captain fell 9-5 to rising Filipino sensation AJ Manas, who capitalised on key errors to deliver a breakout win. Woodward responded in his following match, grinding out a 9-7 victory over fellow American Nathan Childress to survive another day.

A SHORT BREAK AND BACK TO THE GAME

Another series of matches in the Billiard Ekstraklasa awaits us.

On Friday, May 9, the Billiard Ekstraklasa organized by the Polish Billiard Association returns to Galeria Echo in Kielce. There will be no shortage of emotions, especially since the leader and vice-leader of the table will face each other.

At the top of the table after the first meeting is GKS Katowice, and Fortis Bilard Kielce is right behind the Silesian team. This will be a particularly exciting match of the second meeting. The club from the capital of the Świętokrzyskie province is a multiple Polish champion, which is very eager to return to the top. The plans of the star-studded GKS are also outlined in golden colors. Although the clash between them in the regular round does not decide anything, after all, the Final4 in November is still ahead of us, nevertheless each of these teams will want to make it clear to their opponents who deserves the championship.

Of course, this is not the end of the excitement! Saturday's clash between Strefa Łódź and Akademia Bilardowa Rokietnica will certainly be a good spectacle. The match between Bank Spółdzielczy w Sokółka LP Sokółka and Zakręcona Bila Poznań also promises to be interesting.

Things will also be hot at the bottom of the table. Currently, the relegation zone is occupied by the teams of Arkadia II Tczew and Fortis Bilard II Kielce, and they will do everything to get out of the red zone. The clashes of teams from both the upper and lower parts of the table can be watched free of charge at Galeria Echo in Kielce. We also invite everyone to follow the Live Stream on the Internet.

The beginning of the 2nd meeting of the Billiard Ekstraklasa on Friday, May 9 at 9:00.

SHAW SENDS A MESSAGE IN HUNT FOR UK OPEN GLORY

Home hero Jayson Shaw lit up Day Two of the 2025 UK Open Pool Championship, storming into Winners’ Qualification with a pair of dominant wins as he sets his sights on a maiden UK Open title in front of the passionate Telford crowd.

Returning to the Telford International Centre for its fourth edition, the UK’s premier pool event runs from May 6–11, with the first four days streamed exclusively on WNT TV, before the final stages are broadcast live on Sky Sports across the UK & Ireland.

Eagle Eye Shaw opened his campaign in commanding fashion, dispatching American Rick Miller 9-2 before cruising to a 9-1 victory over the Romanian Giant, Cristian Surdea, to keep his title hopes firmly on track.

Shaw commented: “I’m feeling good about my game. I’ve been playing well over the last six months—going deep in tournaments—but just haven’t quite finished strong. I know that’s going to change. I can feel it coming. It’s just around the corner, so I’m staying confident and keeping the momentum going.”

On the other side of the draw, last year’s Mosconi Cup captain Skyler Woodward marked his return to the World Nineball Tour with two equally emphatic performances. The American dropped just two racks across the day, defeating Adam Clarke 9-2 before completing a clinical 9-0 whitewash over Romania’s Dorin Iusan.

Woodward’s teammate Billy Thorpe faced a different fate. After an early defeat to Dean Shields on Day One, Thorpe was sent to the Losers’ Bracket where he faced Canada’s John Morra in the following day. Despite a spirited effort, the American bowed out of the competition following a devastating 8-5 loss in a tough battle.

CAPITO IGNITES TITLE DEFENCE IN STYLE | 2025 UK OPEN POOL CHAMPIONSHIP

Robbie Capito launched his UK Open title defence in emphatic fashion, powering through two opening day victories to continue his run in Winners' Qualification round at the 2025 UK Open Pool Championship.

Returning to the Telford International Centre for its fourth edition, the UK’s premier pool event runs from May 6–11, with the first four days streamed exclusively on WNT TV, before the final stages are broadcast live on Sky Sports across the UK & Ireland.

Capito showed little sign of nerves in his return to the table, easing past Belgium’s Kevin Lannoye 9-1 in a commanding opening performance. The Hong Kong star then overcame a spirited effort from Britain’s Marcel Price, pulling away late to secure a confident 9-5 win and keep his campaign firmly on track.

Joining Capito in the next stage, former UK Open champion and reigning European Open titleholder Joshua Filler looked in fine form, brushing aside Filipino debutant Lauro Catapang 9-2 before defeating Finland’s Jere Virtaranta 9-3 in clinical style. The German cueist now eyes a second UK Open crown as he builds momentum early.
