As a packed crowd gathered for the first match of the day, two top 10 world ranking giants would grace the floor to entertain them for what would become a surprise in the end. Of course, both players not only wanted to make the final but more importantly be crowned Masters Champion. However, both players had a different reason why. For Mark Selby "The Jester from Leicester" if he was to go through to the final and win the Masters it would be his fourth (previously winning it in 2008, 2010 and 2013). For Stephen Murphy, it would mean winning the Triple Crown, only three players in history have ever done so (Steve Davis, Stephen Hendry and Mark Williams). The match started off pretty terribly for Shaun Murphy and never really got of the ground. Although a few missed chances by Mark Selby gave Shaun Murphy the opportunity to play some amazing safety plays to stop Mark Selby in his tracks, although this was only a brief moment. "The Jester from Leicester" Mark Selby soon won a series of frames when the first half finished 4-1 to Selby. The second half, Mark Selby carried on with some stunning shots and although Shaun Murphy did claw one frame back, his poor performance throughout the match gave Shaun Murphy no chance. Mark Selby now goes through to the final to face either Steven Maguire or Ronnie O'Sullivan in the Dafabet Masters final on Sunday.

Having the first match finished so quickly the crowed at tonight’s match were hoping that this match wouldn't be so one-sided. Tonight's match was quoted as another 'big one' but ended up quite surprising. The 2012 Masters Champion Neil Robertson and favourite not only for this year’s tournament but favourite for the match, did not really show at times why he is the 'Thunder from Down Under', although still potting some amazing plays and excellent safety shots. However, lacking execution of potting vital balls from Neil Robertson, Stephen Maguire took full advantage by sticking to his game play by pulling off spectacular long pots and left the 'Thunder from Down under' still sitting in his corner. The match ended surprisingly to everyone 6-2 to Stephen Maguire taking him through to the Semi-Final to face 'The Rocket' Ronnie O'Sullivan.

Ronnie O'Sullivan proves yet again in just over 40-minutes in total match play, why he is not only box office material but a crowd filler by thrashing Ricky Walden 6-0 in classic Ronnie O'Sullivan style. 'The Rocket' Ronnie O'Sullivan in the first half, in around 20-minutes, was up 4-0. In the second half, vital misses by Ricky Walden gave Ronnie O'Sullivan the knockout blow to take the final two frames of the match, leaving Ricky Walden nowhere to turn or run but to congratulate Ronnie O'Sullivan. Ronnie O'Sullian has not won the Dafabet Masters since 2009, with a performance like this he now must be confident to wipe away the 5-year gap.

A flying visit from World Snooker supremo Barry Hearn highlights the fact that the Quarter-Final match between John Higgins and Mark Selby was one of the tastiest morsels on offer so far this week, and must have inspired the players into action. Nevertheless, at 5-4 to Higgins, it looked like this game was predestined to go the full distance before we see who will finally book his place to meet Shaun Murphy in the Semi-Finals of the Dafabet Masters. Both players had chances as control of the table went back and forth, but ultimately it was Selby who managed to capitalise on them and take the next frame to go 5-5, and in another low scoring frame that could have gone either way, Selby completed the come-back for the 6-5 victory.

All photography courtesy of ©J-P Fletcher / www.jpfcollection.com Click the image to view the full size photograph (use "back" to return here). Match Report - Shaun Murphy and Marco Fu.
A slimline Shaun Murphy did not get off to a the best of starts at the Quarter Finals of the Masters Snooker, quickly losing frame-by-frame and eventually just before the break losing 4-1. With the missed chances by Shaun Murphy, Marco Fu took full advantage and stormed through into a combatable lead. However, with the frequent missed chances by Marco Fu, visibly showing frustration on how he was playing Shaun Murphy quickly gained confidence to win 5 frames in a row. With the crowd clearly in Shaun Murphy's corner, it gave Shaun a boost of confidence to eventually book his place into the Semi-Finals of the Dafabet Masters.

Monday-Thursday 1-4 December 2014
Boyes – I’m Desperate To Make Blackpool
Karl Boyes is desperate to earn a place on Team Europe for the 2014 PartyPoker.com Mosconi Cup after hearing the event will take place at the Tower Circus in his hometown of Blackpool.
Boyes was part of the 2013 European team who thrashed USA 11-2 at the Mirage in Las Vegas, his second successful appearance in pool’s biggest event.
The former World 8-ball champion is now looking ahead to the 2014 event, and says the Mosconi’s move to Blackpool makes him even more determined than ever to earn one of the five spots on Team Europe.
“When they announced the venue was Blackpool I had goosebumps,” he said. “If I can get in the team for the Blackpool Mosconi Cup it will be unbelievable. I am desperate to get into that team.
“I have been to the venue to watch snooker, I have been to take my daughter to the circus there and it is five minutes from my house, so I am desperate to get in that team.

BLACKPOOL’S historic Tower Circus will be the venue of the 2014 PartyPoker.com Mosconi Cup, the 21st running of pool’s premier team event. Taking place from Monday 1st to Thursday 4th December, the event features two five-man teams representing the USA and Europe competing in a series of singles and doubles matches.
Following on from their resounding win at the Mirage last year, the Europeans have already been installed as 2/5 favourites to win the Cup for the seventh time in eight years. The Americans meanwhile will be looking for their first victory since 2009.
The Tower Circus was built in 1894 and has rich history as an entertainment centre in one of the UK’s liveliest seaside resort towns. The Circus itself is positioned in the base of the famous Blackpool Tower.
Commented Matchroom Sport Chairman Barry Hearn; “After two great years in East London, the Mosconi Cup has now outgrown at the York Hall and the Tower Circus in Blackpool is the perfect replacement.

The match between Stuart Bingham and John Higgins much to the crowds relief was a lot shorter then the previous match of the day, although Stuart Bingham would tend to disagree. The match for Stuart Bingham did not get off to a great start going down 4-1, then right after losing another frame making it 5-1 to John Higgins. However, with a few missed chances Stuart Bingham leaped up to make it 5-2 with a possible come back. However, throughout the match, John Higgins, the two time Masters Champion (1999 & 2006) played like a champion storming his way into the match with a final score of 6-2. Taking John Higgins into the next round of the 2014 Dafabet Snooker Masters.

Mark Selby starting off his Dafabet 2014 Masters Championship as defending champion for the second time against first round opponent Mark Davis. Mark Selby produced a stunning performance by storming into the lead to end the first half match 4-1.
With the second half breaking off Mark Selby missed a chance which gave Mark Davis an opportunity to pull back his way into the tournament after countless and costly mistakes by Selby. Mark Davis eventually worked his way back to making it 4-3 then 30-minutes later making it 4-4, giving the crowd something to look forward to, even though the expressions on there faces thinking this match should of been done and dusted hours ago, assuming Mark Selby though the same. It all came down to the final frame, and after countless plays of safety shots, missed long pots and flukes. Mark Davis missed a chance to give Mark Selby the lead in the frame and eventually interrupted Mark Selby's play to concede the match and thus taking Mark Selby into the next round of the 2014 Masters Championship.

| WPBL Bonus Ball - WPBL Playoff Dates Announced |

WPBL BONUS BALL - MICHAELA TABB All photography courtesy of ©Mike Brown / WPBL Michaela Tabb Returns as Referee
The World Professional Billiard League will play an 11 match playoff schedule from February 5th-13th 2014 concluding with the league championship on February 15th. All teams will participate in the playoffs at the WPBL Arena in Las Vegas, NV which consists of four rounds of competition.
World renowned cue sport referee Michaela Tabb will return to preside over the WPBL’s playoffs and championship match. This will be the second appearance as referee by Ms. Tabb for the 2013-14 WPBL Season. Previously, she officiated 18 matches leading up to the league’s playoffs.
Phoenix Fire captain Scott Frost who has been a vocal advocate for both the league and the game of Bonus Ball had this to say about the WPBL playoffs: “I can speak for all of us players, we’re more than excited for the playoffs! How can you not be when the people behind Bonus Ball have been knocked down so many times and still have the sheer heart and commitment to make something consistent for the pros in America and the rest of the world. To top it all off, the game of Bonus Ball itself is a stimulating challenge to the mind and refreshing to play! People need to hop on the bus and a least try this game!”
