Britain’s first ever professional 10-ball pool event has finished with Daryl Peach, Jayson Shaw and Phil Burford going home with the spoils from another successful GB9 weekend.
Coming into this event, many tour players were walking into uncharted territory; some had only played the game a handful of times before whilst some had never played a single rack of 10-ball. On the flip side, many of the seasoned professionals GB9 can boast play this game as frequently and as passionately as they play 9-ball. These differing approaches to 10-ball was sure to create a mouth watering tour stop and that is precisely what the weekend produced.

Friday, 03 August 2012: In the final matches of the Team competition, Germany took the Gold Medal in the junior’s division while Poland took the Gold in the pupil’s division.
The German juniors were never really in danger against their Russian opponents. Finn Eschment (GER) won the straight pool over Andrey Seroshtan (RUS) with 100:-1. While Vladislav Zaborovskii (RUS) was leading 6:5 in 8-ball over Jan-Henrik Wolf (GER), Tobias Bongers (GER) won the 9- ball match with 8:4 over Vitaly Pavlukhin (RUS). That brought Team Germany their 5th Gold Medal for these Championships.
In the pupil’s division, Team Poland was victorious over Team Germany. The straight pool match went to Germany; Joshua Filler (GER) won 75:47 over Mikolaj Zabecki (POL). But Filler’s teammates were not able to bring their matches home. Can Salim-Giasar (GER) lost 5:7 to Patryk Statkiewicz (POL) in 9-ball while Pawel Kaczmarek (POL) took the 8-ball over David Vu (GER) with 6:4.

The winners Foto: EPBF/DK 8-ball champions crowned in Brandenburg a. d. Havel, Germany
Wednesday, 01 August 2012: The 8-ball individuals at this year’s Dynamic Billiard European Youth Championships have been decided.
Moritz Lauwereyns (BEL) crushed Berk Mehmetcik (TNC) with 7:3. It was amazing to have these two players in the final. For both of them, it was already a great achievement. Since they are both known to be slow players, the tournament management decided to have the match under the shot-clock. Lauwereyns seemed to have the better role in the final and won the match deservedly.
In the pupil’s division, Joshua Filler (GER) had to deal with David Vu (GER). Since they are both teammates in the German contingency, they know each other quite well. No wonder the match was close. In the end, Filler had the better and snatched his second title for these European Championships.
In the girl’s division, Kamila Khodjaeva (BEL) defeated Kateryna Polovinchuk (UKR) 5:2. Just like in the semi-final match, Polovinchuk missed some chances in the early stage of the match and was down 1:3 quickly. But Khodjaeva played too strong for her to intercept her. In the end, Khodjaeva won 5:2 and her victory was never in danger.

Efren Reyes is assured a Bronze medal in his debut at Predator 72nd World 14.1 Photography by www.charleseamesphotography.com Semi-Finals of Predator World Tournament of 14.1
Queens, New York- The 57 year old Filipino cue master has gone undefeated thus far in 8 consecutive matches in his first ever World 14.1 competition. Though not a student of the game and having not played straight pool in decades, no one doubted that he would not perform well as the world's most creative player. Still, making it to the semi-finals is quite a feat.
"Efren likes to win new big tournaments the very first time he plays in them. That's why he has such big historical event titles if you look at his history of wins. It's amazing as much as he has done, he still finds the motivation", said Charlie Williams, fellow pro player on tour.
"He is absolutely my favorite player to watch. I just love watching him play, whatever game he is shooting", said Tim Malloy, long time pool fan and local New Yorker.
Reyes defeated USA champ Corey Deuel to reach the semi-finals. On the other side, England's World Champion Darren Appleton crushed France's Stephan Cohen to reach the semis.
Thus far, Efren has pocketed 1050 balls to stay undefeated and reach the final 4. If he wins, he will face USA fan favorite John Schmidt, a former US Open 9-Ball winner.
A new World 14.1 Champion will be crowned today.

European 10-ball Champions: Jose Alberto, Delgado Hernandez, Joshua Filler and Kamila Khodjaeva Foto: EPBF/DK 10-ball competition found worthy winners
Monday, 30 July 2012: The 10-ball finals are over. The new European Champions are Kamila Khodjaeva (BEL) in the girl’s division, Joshua Filler (GER) in the pupil’s division and Jose Alberto Delgado Hernandez (ESP) in the junior’s division.
The first final to finish was the pupil’s division. Only after about one hour of play, Joshua Filler pocketed his final 10-ball to defeat Andreas Madsen (DEN) clearly with 6:2. A loud scream came from Filler’s mouth when he realized that the winning ball would go in.
“I felt a huge load being taken off my mind”, said Filler after the match, “I really wanted that title. Eventually, after four times in the final, I think I deserved a title”. “I played a bit offhand in the beginning but then I was able to get back in the zone with my concentration”.
The junior’s final finished after the pupil’s. The tension in the junior’s final was very present. Tobias Bongers (GER) was leading 5:2 and 6:4 and he played solid and confident. But he should not have underestimated Delgado. The Spaniard approached Bongers rack after rack and tied the match at 6:6. The 13th rack was determined by safety play. In the end, Delgado had the better end and won the title.
In the girl’s division, Kamila Khodjaeva played Ana Gradisnik (SLO). Gradisnik is known to be a slow player and forced her game onto Khodjaeva. That worked in the beginning and Gradisnik was always in the lead and went on the hill first with 4:3. But Khodjaeva showed her full experience and was able to turn the tide in the match, winning 5:4 in the end.

BWPPA Ranking Event No.4 - The Dynamic British 10 Ball Championships Rileys American Pool and Snooker - Cardiff City 48-54 City Road Cardiff CF24 3DN www.bwppa.org www.rileys.co.uk

Click the image to view the larger poster - use "back" to return here. All wheelchair cue-sport players invited to compete in the 10 ball championships
The 2012 BWPPA season reached it’s half way point at the last event in Liverpool with Tony Southern taking his second event in a row, and extending his lead in the rankings over Roy Kimberley. Tony will be going for a hat trick in Cardiff, but it will be tough, with a big field expected for the event, including Ireland's former World 9 Ball Champion and winner of the first BWPPA event of the season, Fred Dinsmore, making the trip over the Irish sea.
In the last few weeks the tour is pleased to announce that Predator Cues has agreed to continue to support the tour in 2012 and beyond, and this year this includes amongst the prizes available, a top of the range Ikon cue will be presented to the player at the top of the rankings at the end of the season.
The players have recently voted on some changes to the tour, including a revised challenge event, and a change to the seeding and fee structure.
The season continues on the 18th/19th August at Riley’s Cardiff City and you could be part of it!
A number of our players will be battling for the top end of the rankings, with places available in the World Championship in Qatar in September 2012 it promises to be an exciting event.
The tour welcomes players of widely ranging ability with two events spanning the weekend. This means that non-elite players can battle amongst themselves in the "Challenge" Cup as well as having the opportunity of matching themselves against the top players on the tour in the main ranking event.

| Eschment and Wahl go for the Gold ! |

The Gold Medallists, Wahl (left) and Eschment Foto: EPBF/DK Straight Pool finals decided in Brandenburg a.d.Havel
Saturday, 28 July 2012: The final matches have been played in the Straight Pool competition. Finn Eschment and Raphael Wahl (both GER) have taken the Gold Medals.
The match in the junior’s division was pretty one-sided. Eschment played the highest run of the tournament so far. He was leading 13:5 in the third inning. The fourth inning was 95:5. Eschment ran 82 balls. The next inning was the final one. Wolf had no answer to that and Eschment seized the crown off him, winning 100:5.
In the pupil’s division, the match was more exciting. Wahl took a 73: 13 lead over Filler and it looked like the match would be over soon. But Filler struck back and made the score 66:73. Then, he missed an easy 8-ball with 2 balls remaining on the table. That was just enough for Wahl. He pocketed the two balls and won the crown in the pupil’s division.
