Rico has been planning a tournament for a while now, and now he is ready to announce the location and format for the competition. When asked by Pro9 Rico has this to say, "I recently told you I was going to organise a pool tournament so here it is. Plain and simple set up. Everyone's welcome."
Hosted at the London flagship of the Hurricane Rooms chain of clubs in Kings Cross, the vent will feature some exciting "extras" like a Speed Pool Challenge, and Trick Shot Table, and even a free Pool Master Class by "Ricochet" himself!
The club is just a two minute walk from the Kings Cross London Underground Station, and if you haven't visited it yet, here is the ideal opportunity to acquaint yourself with a beautifully appointed club with a lot of London snooker history. You're in for a real treat!

Melling back to No.1 position
CHRIS MELLING, who finished atop of the 2011 European Mosconi Cup rankings, is at it again, as his semi-final finish at last week’s World 8 Ball Championship saw him move to the top of the pile as the race for 2012 Mosconi Cup spots takes off.
After two events the Yorkshireman leads England’s Mark Gray by four points and is 11 points ahead of Oliver Ortmann of Germany in third spot. Melling made his Mosconi debut in Las Vegas last December and looked outstanding as he helped his side to a convincing 11-7 win.
“It's great to be back up to No. 1 on the list as I had the best experience ever in Vegas. It's hard to explain the pressures involved until you have played in it but I definitely want more of it,” said Melling.
“I've started the year well and hopefully I can stay there as I'm playing well and I'm confident - you just need a bit of luck to go with it. Hopefully I'll be at York Hall and battling it out again with the Americans in December. That's my goal!”
Melling, who heads to the next qualifying event on March 1st – the Bosnia Open in Sarajevo, also revealed that he and his business partner have just started up a company to promote younger players who are less fortunate.
“It was something that I never had and I coach them and try to help them improve,” he said.

GB9 Midlands Classic
The GB 9 Ball Tour returns this weekend after its winter break as the 2012 edition of the Midlands Classic is contested at the Barceló Hotel in Daventry, Northamptonshire.
It’s at times like this when we all reflect back on the previous season. 2011 really did have it all – shock results, emotional victories and the introduction of many new players, many of whom proved they would be more than capable of cutting it with the big guns in years to come. Given what we’ve seen in the previous four seasons of the tour, we are sure to be in for another year of breathtaking world-class pool. For 2012 the GB 9 Ball Tour is proud to include many features both old and new, all combining to create what is regarded by many as the toughest national pool tour in the world.

| Paddy McLoughlin Crowned 2012 All Ireland Open 10-Ball Champion |
2012 All-Ireland American 10 Ball Championships Ireland’s American 8 & 9 Ball Pool Tour The Embassy Snooker & American Pool Rooms Sligo Town County Sligo Ireland www.rballsports.com www.belfrypub.com
Sunday 19 February 2012
Westley McGowan representing the Belfry Venue Sligo (tournament sponsors) presents Paddy McLoughlin (Down, winner) and Barry Hough (Mayo, runner-up) with their prizes in the 2012 All Ireland Open 10-Ball Pool Championships. Paddy McLoughlin Crowned 2012 All Ireland Open 10-Ball Champion
Paddy McLoughlin (Down) put on a fabulous display to be crowned 2012 All Ireland Open 10-Ball Champion on Sunday past (19th February) in the beautiful Belfry playing venue Sligo with the Co.Down cueist adding another prestigious title to his fantastic CV. Paddy also goes straight into number one on Ireland’s American 8 & 9 Ball Pool Tour official rankings for 2012 with ranking points rewarded from tournaments throughout the year involving all cue-sport categories of American 8-Ball, 9-Ball and 10-Ball events. It is also great to see one of Ireland’s top 8-ball players Barry Hough (Mayo) making regular appearances by playing in events organised by Ireland’s American 8 & 9 Ball Pool Tour with the Co. Mayo player starting to leave his mark on the tour by reaching the semi-finals of the All Ireland 9-Ball Championships back in July 2011 and now reaching the final of the 2012 All Ireland Open 10-Ball Championships on the weekend past only to be defeated by the inform Paddy McLoughlin on a 10-5 score-line. Paddy wasn’t producing his top form in recent tour events over the last few years when the new handicap system was introduced on the tour which made it very difficult for the Co. Down cueist but after the weekends performance in the 2012 All Ireland Open 10-Ball Championships all players should watch out because the “GINGER MAGICIAN” is back better than ever.

| Chang Jun Lin wins the 2012 World 8-Ball Championship |
WPA Etisalat World 8-Ball Championships 2012 The Fujairah Tennis & Country Club Fujairah United Arab Emirates www.wpa-pool.com - Groups (.pdf file) - Live score - Photos www.world8ballchampionship.com www.fujairahtennisclub.ae
12-17 February 2012
CHANG ALL THE WAY!
CHANG JUN LIN WINS THE 2012 WORLD 8-BALL CHAMPIONSHIP
Taiwan's Chang Jun Lin has won the 2012 World 8-Ball Championship, with an impressive and conclusive 11-6 victory over compatriot Fu Che Wei.
Call it a case of the student surpassing the master.
Taiwan’s Chang Jun Lin, who for the last ten years has been a pupil of fellow countryman Fu Chei Wei, did his pool teacher proud by winning the 2012 World 8-ball Championship, convincingly beating Fu in an all-Taiwan finals in Fujairah, 11—6.
Chang’s performance today, which started with a gritty 9-7 semi-finals win over England’s Chris Melling, vaulted him atop the pool playing world and deservedly so. Chang’s ability to read patterns, his even-keel demeanor, and his dead-eye potting skills, were all on display throughout the week in Fujairah and carried him through world class competition all the way to his first world championship.
The fact that Chang has learned much about pool and life at the feet of the 38 year old Fu, added a fascinating twist to what had become an all-Taiwan 8-ball party in Fujairah. The 26 year old Chang began studying the game from Fu at the age of 16. Despite traveling the world in the last few years, the two had never played each other in an international event.
The fact that these two ended up in the finals of a world championship was amazing result. As is the case in most pro tournaments, the tournament was constantly in a state of flux, with a single small roll of a ball determining outcomes of matches and careers. But by the time the finals rolled around, it was clear that the two hottest players this week had made it. Like Chang, Fu was playing red hot pool the last few days and had never come close to defeat. His 9-3 beat down of China’s Liu Haitao in today’s semi-final was just the latest in a string of powerful performances.
