The Scottish Pool-Hustler's Challenge
Inspired by the Ring-Game at Barnsley recently, the Scottish American Pool Players Association have gone one better and organised a three-tiered day of Ring-Game action with free tables provided by The Q-Club in Glasgow.
Click on "Read More..." for the rules.
Event 1: 10-Ball Ring Match for £600 (£100 per man)
1. Pat Holtz - 'Silky' 2. Steve Capaldi - 'The Godfather' 3. Andy Morris - 'Rodney' 4. Martin Hughes - 'Blue Suede' 5. Alan Brown - 'Snake Eyes' 6. Stewart McPhee - 'The Lightning Seed'
Referee: Peter McLanachan
Event 2: 10-Ball Ring Match for £300 (£50 per man)
1. Graham Dunbar - 'The Fat Destroyer' 2. Greg Alexander - 'Awesome Alexander' 3. Chris Fraser 'The Spaniard' 4. Davy Jack - 'The Destroyer' 5. Gary Houston 'Tex' 6. Billy Edmond 'The Guvnor'
Event 3: 10-Ball Ring Match for £120 (£20 per man)
1. John Paul Murrow - 'The Machine Gun' 2. Steve Hamilton - 'Hammy' 3. Kev Brown - 'Pete' 4. Pete King - 'Pistol Pete' 5. Chris McPhee 'The Rage' 6. Tam Talent - 'The Talent'
The Cue Club have kindly agreed to donate 3 tables for this event and arrange some buffet-style snacks.
THE GAME RULES
Money Per Rack:
£600 match: 1st racks - £5 per rack (per player), increasing every hour to £10, £20, £40, £80 etc
£300 match: 1st racks - £3 per rack (per player), increasing every hour to £5, £10, £20, £40, etc
£120 match: 1st racks - £1 per rack (per player), increasing every hour to £2, £5, £10, £20
Normally the initial starting fee for money per rack is 10% of your stake but since this is the first event like this and we're all out for some good match practice then it was thought to be more lenient on this.
Basic Rules - 10 Ball (similar to 9 ball rules, except the 10 is the main object ball) - Alternate visits (not individual shots) - No safeties allowed, a pot must be attempted (failure to do so is a foul, referees decision) - Call game, all attempted pots must be "called" even if it's obvious. - Playing order rotates every 6 games - Winner breaks
Fouls on the break Foul break - oncoming player has option of re-rack & break off or play table from behind "head string". Scratch on break - Q ball behind "head string" and shoot in any direction.
Fouls after the break 1st foul - you can ask your opponent who fouled to "play again" from where Q ball lies. 2nd (consecutive) foul - you can move the Q ball behind the "head string" and shoot from there in any direction. 3rd (consecutive) foul - you have Q ball in hand anywhere on the table.
