Well, I hope that GB9 is successful this year and for many years to come. How is the English Pool equivalent holding up? Are all of the games suffering a bit in the UK?

I am sure some of the older players will remember the days of playing in a dodgy Riley's with half a Cadillac sticking out of the wall and loads of Yankee posters; the original and classic 'theme' of American pool in the UK 10-15 years ago. The cliched decor aside, the cloths (normally red or purple) used to have the words Coca-Cola emblazoned on the middle of the table - about 3ft long - and yes if you were playing two rail position to to he middle of the table the cue ball could change direction on an 'a' or a 'c' and if you landed in the middle of an 'o' you may as well reach for your jump cue! Possibly the worst conditions to play in, ever.

Fast forward to today and the UK boasts one of the most professional pool tours in the world: World Champions ( 8, 9, 10 ball and team), Euro Tour winners; International players (including Ralf Souquet, a hall of famer); Mosconi Cup players; fantastic tables; supreme organisation; famous sponsors...

....continued. The tour exists because of a selfless, hard working, dedicated and committed group of people - the GB9 ball team.

As alluded to by Lee in the players meeting on Friday, the tour is on the verge of even greater things. In order to get to the next level it needs the SUPPORT OF THE PLAYERS. If you have played on GB9 before and haven't signed up this year - play the next event. If you have never played a GB9 - sign up for the next one and test yourself against some of the best players in the world.

Yes, it is expensive and you may have to play very well to cover your expenses, but if you love 9 ball you need to be at GB9! If it means sacrificing playing at a one day event or two, do it. At worst you will be playing in first-class conditions, with some of the world's best players (Appleton, Gray, Peach, Majid, Melling, Souquet etc) and it's a weekend away with a great bunch of lads.

Keep up the fantastic work.

Wow, thanks for the very kind words G. As chairperson of the tour I'm very proud of all of the work that my team puts into making the tour as great as it is.

We need the support of as many players as possible, please don't think that it doesn't matter if I support the tour as others will DO IT- the more people we get the better position we will be in, more prize money will be available and the more options we will have to make the tour more affordable for everyone.
