double standards it should be the same dresscode for everyone. next time i play at the event i am going to play in my jeans and hoody. prizemoney only benefits the winner and runner up of the main event so that is all that is worth playing for. £40 Petrol, £82 for your room, then your entry fee and then your expenses for food and drink!!! so if you win the challenge you would probably profit around £100 notes so things need to change and quickly.

I totally agree and it's a real shame as the tour wasn't like this in the beginning. I was docked a rack for being 5 mins late fire my game and that's fair as they are the rules so I have no problem with that. What I do have a problem with is the double standards for the top players. I was also warned for not practicing before my match was called when in fact I was getting the balls out of the pocket ready to start, didnt even have my cues out of my bag!! I'd love to see the refs tell raj, tony or ralf not to do this! Rant over but in summary things need to change.

Completely factually incorrect. It tends to be the top players who receive most warnings for practicing. I remember one event last year when Imran got docked a rack in a final for practicing before the match was called.

Bernard's watch did me last year for being 5mins 40secs late which is fair enough. However, I was 3-0 down and in the 4th rack at the same time as next table, Gray vs Majid, were still on practice racks. Took my time out to question the referee who said that their match was not called at same time. All were 9am matches and was actually called a bit before mine. Different.

This season I think it's a better layout with regards to double elim and match times Friday and Saturday day. Saturday Night and Sunday I'm sure will get tweaked. Players who reach last 32 and 16 of main event can't cover costs of hotel and entry fee and have nothing to play for on Sunday. No reward for their efforts. Ideally increase pot for main with incentive for players in mind.Challenge entry £10-20 IMO

Edited....
I'm still annoyed about some of the biased or factually incorrect stuff that gets posted on here but this isn't the place to air my views so post removed.

If you all want to discuss how we can improve our tour that's great.

But if people want to make claims about the way our staff implement the rules then it would be much better to air those views privately as the staff involved will never discuss individual cases in public and therefore, it is unfair and can be damaging to only have one side of the story aired in public forums. It might feel good to get it off your chest but it's not helpful to anyone.

And, for the record, yes Andy is correct, the UK Number One ranked player was docked a rack IN A FINAL for unauthorised practice. That's public knowledge because it was mentioned by commentators on the video of the final.

I'm not playing on the tour at the minute but was there at this event to watch a few games/catch up with players. I think to many players are getting prize money, 32 from the main and then more from the challenge (8 or 16?? not sure) so 40 or 48 players out of 104 getting money. When all of the prizes come form entry fees minus running costs I really don't see anyone but the 'elite' benefiting. IMO 25% of the field getting money seems about right, maybe last 16 in main and last 8 from challenge?? At least then the 16 from the main that get cash would cover most of their costs.

32 paid in the main last time looked something like this:

W 2000
R UP 800
SF 400
QF 200
16 125
32 80

(Approx numbers)

Only paying 16 would be more like:

W 2000
R UP 1000
SF 500
QF 300
16 200

Pretty sure it would be possible to play to 16 before the challenge started...

Another suggestion for the challenge is to make it open for players not on the tour, say £20/£25 (tour players pay approx £13 each towards challenge so 'guests' could pay a little more), this may well attract some new faces, people who don't want to pay full fees/hotels etc... It would also top up the prize money...
