I have heard a rumour that there is going to be a handicapping system being put in place for 'season 2' by where a weaker player could only have to play up to the 6-ball whereas the better player plays 9-ball.
Anybody else heard this rumour? Anybody care to share their opinions on this and what they'd do if this was implemented?
Everybody should play on a level playing field. I don't see why anybody would want to lower themselves down to such a level that they are playing to the 6-ball (as an example).
I refuse to play any player better than me (only stands to be Aslam and Ryuji from my club) on any basis other than both playing to pot the 9ball as the winning ball. On the same token, I refuse to play any player who gets a handicap because quite frankly, they dont deserve an easier game because they either can't be bothered/don't have the ability to improve their game.
Please bear in mind that sandbagging might be rife as well. People lowering their standard in order to get an easier time of it come the next season.
Sorry if it's negative, but I heard this last night and was shocked so I'm offering feedback on the rumour, as well as asking if there is any truth in it?

oh Bazza... lets clear something up. nothing changes without the general consent of all our members, and such decisions will only be made once youve all had a chance to offer feedback. what i would say though Barry, is you need to look at other worldwide national ameteur leagues that are well established with proven systems for inspiration, Next week (end of P1) there will be a number of issues offered up for discussion amongst us all. Til then..... Tone

Hi Tone, I know nothing will change without being voted for. Not trying to make you look like a dictator. You know that I understand the league is by the players for the players If you could direct me to some other sites to take a look at worldwide national leagues that would be good. I am curious what other systems are currently used because maybe one of them could work. Just for the record, I'm not against handicapping in other sports like golf and even in amateur snooker

I've used that handicap system before and it's a good one, but you need to have a reliable way to ensure the handicaps allocated are a fair representation, and that it's not open to exploitation. BTW - thanks Tony for the opportunity to provide feedback into the league, it is very much appreciated by all I'm sure. I am looking forward to seeing how the leagues develop, because as I've said before I think there's certainly a market there for them, and I'm enjoying the opportunity (when my opponents can be bothered to turn up!). Poss if someone wants to organise it! But thats pron not going to happen in this league is it! Only found out by chance we couldn't play this Monday otherwise i would have been turning up and not even getting in.
I put money on it that most of the players have not even been told they cant play next Monday yet!

To be fair i only found out by chance, from a player. the club did'nt have the decency to tell me either.
I will be making a call to Rileys, and if you would like to shift the week back by one, i can accommodate that or if you refer to re-arrange your match for during the week that is possible to.
I have had an email from one of the players there detailing certain points you are unhappy with and now that im back home will take the time to respond to the questions asked / points raised.
