In particular, what do you use to cut or trim the fibre pad?

Is there anything in the pro shop to do this?

my self I do not use that little pad. I was told that was for shafts with very small ferrells i.e OB shafts etc.
I just use a golden brick to take edge down and shape the top by hand

Nail polish?

Nail polish Sir ;) Stainless steel obviously ;) Very effective and very accurate in shaping hard plastic. I shaped my white diamond tip (break and jump cue which is very hard) no problem. Also nail polish perfectly works for ferrules to get right flat shape ;-) :-D

Okay so this was an issue I also had. Watching the YouTube vids on how to install and shape the Kamui clear black tip, you either need that Japanese wood carving blade and a very sharp chisel blade to trim the polycarbonate edges manually with ease, or have a machine lathe you attach the shaft to that rotates the shaft as you trim. None of which I had. Someone tried recommending using a Stanley blade but that took forever just to trim the bottom 2 layers of polycarbonate.

So Big Dave Knight kindly recommended me a guy who lives in NW London (I don't feel right to advertise his details - message BDK yourself for his details). He did my tip just a few hours ago and I can highly recommend him. Really top guy, and definitely the expert with cues. He has the machine lathe which takes a fraction of the time to trim and shape the laminated tip.

PS I will be using him again in the future, cheers BDK :-)

To be honest with you I dont think re-tip cue is something hard. So far I changed 6 tips and my last one was kamui clear. I can tell now I am semi-exerienced and i know how to bite this job :-) I have something like pencil trimmer but with bigger hole to trim edges of the tip. But it dosnt work on hard tips as good as on soft especialy it was designed for trimming mushroming tips. U can try as many different tools as u can imagine. As long these work u r the winner :-D For me nail file was exactly what i wanted.

What other tools u use lads for taking care of your cues not necesserly designed for it? :-)
