Hi, I played a lot of uk 8 ball and snooker when i was younger and have joined a billiards club that has a few US pool tables. Also i've been looking at the gb9 tour this year and hopefully i'll enter at least 1 event. I want to get myself a cue as i'm currently using the house cues but i dunno whats best for a newbie.
Should i get a decent playing cue and use that for everything? Do i need a break/jump cue at my level? I've seen a few sets that have a butt and separate playing and break/jump shafts are they a good idea?
Thanks
Ian

Hi, It all depends how serious you want to take it and at what level you are playing at. I started off with a £60 american pool cue but quickly went onto a Balabushka and now have used several Predator cues which i have now settled on. A break / Jump cue is essential if you are going to take the game quite serious and by the sounds of it if you're thinking of entering a GB9 event this year then it sounds like you are. I have one for sale which if you look down the right hand side of this website then you see the J&J for sale for £30. By getting a decent american cue you'll instantly improve as most house cues are garbage! ----------------- Predator Roadline Sneaky Line SP8NWR

Yes you can use the same butt and keep switching shafts for different shots but apart from being a pain in the behind you also have to make sure that they all have the same cue joint!! All current Predator cues use a Uni-loc joint which is world widely used by a lot of the top pro's so the way i see it is what's good enough for them is good enough for me ----------------- Predator Roadline Sneaky Line SP8NWR
