They're all good... Try as many friend's cues as possible so you can get a feel for them and then at least you'll have an idea for the feel of each brand - there are plenty around, but frankly you can't really go with the top brands, so feel free to buy with confidence. Same deal really... What have you tried so far, and what did you think of it? If you check the specs in The Pro Shop you'll see that Predator 314² Shafts and Predator Z² Shafts have many differences, including taper, diameter, and ferrule length - all of which will make the shaft feel and play differently. Does your Filipino cue have a laminated shaft? Laminated shafts are much stiffer than ordinary one-piece shafts, and the Meucci Black Dots are actually quite heavy too, whereas OB-1 and OB-2 shafts are surprisingly light, Mezz shafts all have a surprisingly snug fit that reeks of quality and confidence - they're all different, but they're all brilliant! Frankly, I always feel happy to recommend any Predator Ikon with a standard Predator 314² Shaft as a first pro quality cue... They start at quite an affordable price and the top of the Ikon range have won World Championships but the technology used is the same throughout the entire range, so there's a model for everyone. But as I say, try as many cue models as you can so you know what to expect and see what you prefer. [ This message was edited by: BigDave on 2011-02-10 19:47 ]

Relatively new to the game myself, I played with a cheap cue for a year or so but recently bought a Poison and it's made a massive difference to my game so well worth considering. The advice to try as many as possible is spot on, all the top names perform similarly but it's just how they feel to you.

Post deleted by admin: Shaun, Sorry, but I don't really want to encourage people to advertise second-hand cues in the forums - advertising isn't allowed in the forums, we have a free-ads service especially for that - and I would prefer people to use the free-ads for "wanted" ads too if that's OK? FREE PRO9 CLASSIFIED ADVERTS There's good news, and bad news! The "Bad News" is that you still can't sell your second-hand cues in Pro9's forums... THE GOOD NEWS IS THAT YOU CAN NOW GET A FREE CLASSIFIED ADVERT IN THE NEW "AD LADDER" ON THE RIGHT-HAND-SIDE OF THE PRO9 WEB SITEKeep it simple, just like Twitter, create your advert with a maximum of 140 characters (including spaces) - include your preferred contact details (phone number is ideal). Then send an email with your advert details to editor(at)pro9.co.uk - (do NOT post your advert in the forums) - free classifieds will be available on a first-come first-served basis. The Small Print: In the true spirit of free classified adverts, these are offered for individuals wanting to sell genuine second-hand cue sport products on a non-commercial/non-trade basis. Be aware that entitlement to free classified adverts is limited to a maximum of two free adverts a year, per individual, and adverts run for a maximum of two weeks, please tell us if you have sold your item. We reserve the right to refuse any advert for any reason. We can accept absolutely NO LIABILITY for anything - even if we make a mistake in the advert text - buyer/seller beware. On a personal note... Many people know that I've been wanting to introduce something like his for ages - a place on Pro9 where our readers can find genuine second-hand bargains without the forums being ruined by adverts, and while this may have an effect on shop sales, hopefully this will be a popular feature and the extra traffic gained will compensate. Please take care that the transaction you make is fool-proof... We've all heard the stories of sales gone bad.If in doubt, remember it could actually work out cheaper to pay a bit more and buy it new from a reputable shop. Want a free-ad at Pro9? Just email your 140 Character Message to editor(at)pro9.co.uk [ This message was edited by: BigDave on 2011-02-11 11:38 ]

Fury DL was my very first (over £20) cue. It was a lovely started cue and only got rid of it because i upgraded to my predator. Recently recommended one to a friend who's game has improved massivly since he has started using it
