Hey guys... My tip needs replacing...I'm thinking of getting a moori (no doubt from the Pro Shop...of course). Just wondering if anyone could enlighten me on the differences between the types (soft, medium and fast)? And what type you'd recommend? Thanks... Sha. I can tell you that with regard to our best sellers, it's a dead heat between Moori Slow (Soft) and the Mediums - sales of Moori Fast (Hard) are few and far between. All laminated tips are better at reducing mushrooming, which can be harmful to the softer ferrule on American cues, and are pretty long lasting (obviously harder versions last longer). All sorts of claims are made about performance nowadays, but "the proof in the pudding" is the number of players making repeat purchases, and the best advice you will get will be from the people that post after me - the regular users of these tips. Much of it will be down to personal preference and if you have previously referred softer tips then try the softer Moori and vice-versa. Moori tips are graded as Slow (soft), Medium, Quick (hard).
This actually relates to the speed at which the tip returns to it's natural shape after contact with the cue ball.
The Slow tip will provide more spin and requires a less accurate cue action, where as the Quick tip is for those that have a superb cue action and need more power... thats my take on it anyway!

Kamui here too from mooris. Have had 2 now - very consistent. Think the Kamui med is slightly harder hitting than the Moori med. Take chalk fantastically, don't mushroom (if installed properly) and don't seem to glaze, which the moori do in my experience.
Everest also a good tip (standard on 2nd gen pred shafts) but play slightly softer than the Kamui and Moori Med.
Not sure about the association between softness and action as above. It's all in the stroke IMHO and tip preference is about feel and control.

Thanks for the replies...
Hmmmm interesting. TBH, I don't really know what type of tip suits me best if y'know what I mean...cos I haven't really experimented. Thanks for the advice though.
Btw, does anyone know where I can go to get a professional to put the tip on my cue? (Cos it'll all go horribly wrong if I attempt it myself)

If you are on the GB9 tour there should be a cue doctor in Wealdstone he is very good. If not PM Madmorg he fits them also.

I was thinking of coming down for the Wealdstone event. Dave, can you confirm that a cue doctor will be there? Also how much will this cost?
Dave, will The Pro Shop be at Wealdstone too? Or will I need to purchase the tip beforehand?

I believe the cue doctor is at all GB9 events and if you have the tip he charges £15 which includes a shaft clean also. The pro shop is also at all GB9 events i believe.
