A friend from work is looking to buy a cue on a budget of £150. He asked my advice but I don't have much experience of cues in that price range. I checked the pro shop but they don't really cater for that price range either.
So can anyone give me some suggestions? Andy - Do you have anything that's not shown in the Pro shop? Diamond? (Although I'm looking for new not second hand, if possible)
Please don't reply by posting links to other stores in this thread as that's not allowed here. Just give me some pointers or send me a PM. Thanks.

My first playing cue was a fury that cost me under that amount. It was a decent cue until it got stolen.
5280 pool cues are in this price range and i have heard that they are a good quality cue, for the price.
my recomendations would definatly be to get a fury though, it was a very nice cue to play with and had a decent design as well.

Hi. The new range of Poison cues are pretty decent and cheap too. I bought the AX1 and although not in the same league as the Z2 I bought, I think the Poison shafts are pretty good too.
You should be able to get one of these through the Pro Shop.

Thanks guys. I have one to take a look at this week and if not I'll check out what Dave and Andy have at the Pro Shop in Croydon.

I wont start a new thread, seeing as its on topic. I myself and looking to start playing serious 9 ball, was wondering what a good starting cue is, considering im willing to spend about 4-5 hundred i was thinking of one of the Predators.. however im not sure at all about weight of the cue, whether a everest/sniper/moori tip, the length? Is it all just personal preference or.. ? Any help will be appreciated thanks.

As you say, a lot of it IS down to personal preference but I don't think you can go wrong with a Predator - try a friend's to see if you prefer a Predator 314² or Z² Shaft. The most popular tip we sell in The Pro Shop is still the Moori, they marry up well with Predators and sales are split evenly between Moori Mediums and Moori Slows. Get a standard length shaft unless you are quite tall or specifically want the extra inch, and if your weight preferences change we sell the Predator Weight Bolt System for affordable weight adjustment of Predator Cues. I hope this helps, Big Dave.
