ok guys, this was a tournament that i held between players that play at stanford and players that play in the Basildon club, Went quite well. Unfortunatly we had a very bad day and lost 13-7. Good day though and hopefully after we have a few of these we may try to expand to other clubs around essex to hold maybe a league over the year. Gotta see how it goes.
And Dave, i'm from Stanford-Le-Hope, about 10 minutes drive from Basildon. Any info on these yet? I have also sent you a PM

it was a very long day, but it was worth it, might be shortened next time so a draw is possible.

The tapping is easy but you need to take extra care getting it positioned accurately before tapping.

Sorry to drag up an old posting but do you find that some clubs are a bit funny about you banging away with the tapping mat? I play mainly (from now on) at Darlington Rileys who are fine when I played with Phil B but is this ever a problem? [ This message was edited by: mal_clarke on 2007-11-19 11:50 ]

Horizontal alignment.... You need to put a ball on the cushion either side of the middle diamond level with the spot and a ball in the template where the one ball should go. Then crouch down either side and make sure it's level. Vertical alignment.... Now put a second ball in the template in the middle at the back and a ball on the cushion next to the middle diamond on the top and bottom rails. Now crouch down and check the alignment of these 4 balls down the length of the table. When done recheck the horizontal alignment. Tap the balls as hard as you can making sure the template cannot move, perhaps by getting someone else to hold it for you while you tap. [ This message was edited by: Riggers on 2007-11-19 11:59 ]

hull won't let me tap the tables as they think it damages the them.....i've tried telling them but the none playing management seem to disagree. they didn't take it to kindly when i said the tables are already poor [ This message was edited by: BigDave on 2007-11-20 10:18 ]

Mackie,
That must be so irratating that they don't actually know what they are doing. There is nothing worse than pedantic management who know nothing about the game.
