I've asked around and not one player has received their payment yet.
Even worse, Raya has not answered ANY e-mails yet.
I think it's unbelievable that Raya Spors can keep doing this the 2nd year in a row, with WPA doing nothing. Last year it took them 4 months to pay Chia Ching Wu, and not before lawyer was contacted and many news articles written in Manila newspapers.
This is a World Championship SANCTIONED by the WPA.
Just proves to me that the WPA is all about protecting promotors, not the players.
What will the WPA do if the players won't get paid?
Why should players even care if a tournament is sanctioned or not when there is obviously no protection for the players rigths?
I wonder if WPA has received their 5 % sanctioning fee yet?

We have sent two e-mails to Raya Sports, the second one I copied to the president of the WPA and all the sponsors that appear on the Raya website. As I said earlier, I am not surprised that there has been no reply from Raya but I would have thought that Ian Anderson would have sent a reply to my last e-mail. He will be in Hannover in January for the World Team Championship, if nothing has happend by then, I suggest that interested players ask for a meeting with him then. Says a lot for the game. World champs and ppl not getting paid. What's the point in even trying to get good enough to compete in these events?
I'm buying a set of golf clubs instead...

There may be some hope of getting paid soon, copy of e-mail to David Alcaide.
Hi David,
Your email was passed on to me by Ahyie Torre and I thought it best that I answer you myself.
We have started to remit the prizes for the 2009 WTBC, beginning with the lower prizes and the Americas. They will move shortly to the higher prizes and Europe, and then to Asia.
All in all, I am told that all prizes will be paid by January 15. So check with your bank around that time.
In all previous championships (three in all) and international tournaments, prizes have usually been paid after three weeks or a month after the event, except the WTBC last year when there was some delay. This year is a little later because of the long Christmas break. Your inquiry on Dec 10 was early, but they should have answered you immediately. Sorry for that.
Anyway, all good wishes for the New Year.

I have been assured by the president of the WPA that prizes will be paid by 15th January, I told him that I would believe it when I saw it !!!! He said he didn´t understand why people were worried, players knew that they would get paid sometime !!!! I know at least some of the American players were paid about ten days ago, this was confirmed to me by Charlie Williams.
