firstly peachy wins the 9 ball and Boyes makes the semis! then the legend daz wins the 10 ball!!!
i ask this as were smaller than the state of florida in size. r we all just naturally gifted at pool? or is the fact that most of us were bought up playin english pool and snooker and this made us better potters and better saftey players???
if i was american i would be ashamed of myself!!!

One thing that you have to keep in mind: Efren Reyes, Fransisco Bustamante, Roberto Gomez, Dennis Orcullo and Roberto Alcano didn´t play.. You beat these guys first and then you can start bragging.

The Brits currently hold two titles which is fantastic but to say that the UK is the best in the world is a bit over the top.
I agree with Joma, go back to your dreams Tiger....

It's not his fault the Filipinos chose not to enter and Daz beat everyone who was put in front of him so to attempt to devalue his title with comments like that disgusts me. And for that matter Peachy did beat Busta on his way to the world 9 ball title. [ This message was edited by: Riggers on 2008-10-18 13:04 ]

Yes he did with the sort of slow break that ought to be forbidden and that makes the game so boring. I think what Daz did was better cause the break in 10-ball and the one ball extra makes the game much more dificult.

How can you write something like that when the issue was Y R we the best in the world.. "disgust me" - incredible..

Do I have to remind you that Alcano won both 8- and 9-ball 2 years ago, that Efren has won the title a couple of times (his health is not the best) that Django always make good results in the world cup and that the recent number 1 is Dennis Orcullo? Perhaps you should put this post on the philipino site on AZ?

I think that the point here is not about Daryl or Darren, both won their titles fair and square and thoroughly deserve them. The original statement was that the UK in general is "the best in the world at American Pool" and that clearly is not the case and that was the "ridiculous statement" not the one that Hasse made. Set up a poll here on Pro9 asking which is the best country in the world for American Pool and see what happens. My guess is that the Philippines or Taiwan would come out on top, I don't know where the UK would come out but it certainly wouldn't be 1st. I don't know who Tigertonkin is but I doubt if he can be included in "the best players in the world" category. As Hasse says, put this statement on the AZ Forum and the world would fall about laughing. Hasse has a nickname here in Spain ...the Mad Swede... just for your information but aprt from that, he is quite a nice chap, he is also the current National Senior Champion. if you like to know who is tigertokin just look for the other forum ( nine ball in brentwood). he is looking for someone who he can play but you need to lend him your jump cue.i dont think he can be included in the 'best player in the world category' because according to him he is usually beaten by neil raybone who for me is one decent player (maybe TOP 20 in u.k.) in nine ball tours ranking. so i guess it answers your question.

I agree, we are not the bet in the world, I think this year the few World class players that have played have done an amazing job and had a brilliant year this year, and hopefully that goes on to show in future years (you have done the UK proud boys).
To say that we are the best country in the world is a silly statement, there are so many players in say, the phillipines that have chances to make it world class and they have so much strength in the lower ranks as well as the best players. Apart from the named few above, you will normally always see different phillipinoys in the WC.
And Hasse, nobody can take away Daz's world 10 ball title, at the end of the day, who was the person lifting the trophy at the end of the event? It coulda been busta, efren, orcullo or alcano, but it wasn't. Wu has also been world 9 ball and world 8 ball champion so has the same major titles as alcano and Daz had to beat him to win it, and he did. And now he IS the World 10-ball champion

Whilst I completely agree there is no way the UK is the best country in the world at pool and we have a long long way to go and our players a lot to learn and achieve before they can get anywhere near to that. But it was the comment quoted above that annoyed me. I've read it again and it seems to me a deliberate jibe at Daz's world 10 ball title and the words used are clearly an attempt to devalue it. If you don't agree read it again and think about it. Now if that's the case this IS a ridiculous thing to say. We have 2 very worthy world champions who beat everyone who was put in front of them and did it in style.... Dazzler showing guts under amazing pressure and taking out 3 of the best the philipines has to offer and Dynamite taking down the young genius from Chinese Taipei and basically out playing him for much of the match in a master class of pool. Don't let anyone devalue these achievements with comments like above.

I can't speak for Hasse but if it was a personal jib at Daz, I will tell him so in December in Malaga, and I will introduce you to him Riggers so that you can punch him on the nose.
I was in Manila for Dazzler's victory and i was in Manila for Daz's victory and I can tell anyone, those two victories were well earned by two great players.
They are both now in the record books for posterity.

I did speak with honesty and it was´nt to take away any performance or credit that Daz or Peach have done. I just reacted to the silly "Y R we the best in the world". It was as simple as that. I know that Peach has one nineball-title and Daz likewise the 10-ball but I can´t say that I think they´re the best anyway. And I speak with honesty. That´s it
