Hello all. I've got a question about American 8-ball rules regarding an object ball hitting the cushion. What we want to know is... if you're on spots (or do you call them solids on here?) and the first ball you strike is a spot but the only ball to hit the cushion is a stripe then is that a foul shot? My limited understanding is that as long as ANY ball hits the cushion (assuming no other foul has occurred) then it's a legal shot. I filmed one of the guys demoing this in the hope that someone could help us clear this once and for all http://youtu.be/MxAvylOLVBk

Fantastic, thanks for that.
Lunn, I see you're in Leeds, do you go to the Northern Snooker Centre perchance? We've asked them about setting up an American pool league but they've had little interest in the past. Bit off-topic I know, sorry.

Not been there in a while, since they put Jack Daniels cloth on the tables upstairs! Haha, not sure weather its back to normal now...
They used to run 9 ball club competitions etc but I havent heard of anything recently... Do you play in there?

Yes, we play once a week in there. The JD cloth was replaced something like 2 years ago. Looked great when they'd first done it but it's back to plain purple.
The tables are so-so overall, some quite bad but we've found a reasonable one.

Cool, I'll have to come have a practice sometime then. Whats your name PocketBilliards? I'm Mark Lunn. Don't they have a Brunswick Gold Crown 5 in there now? [ This message was edited by: The_Lunn on 2012-10-29 15:44 ]
