Hi, I was wondering if anyone might know if / where I can source a shaft for my sledgehammer that has a leather tip? Not even sure if such a thing exists, but I'm grateful for any advice. Thanks, Jam.

Thanks, Jam. Jammy, Unless it has been modified from the original, the sledgehammers are all equipped with a phenolic ferrule/tip combo. A leather tip can be installed onto the phenolic ferrule though. Just ask your local repair person to trim the ferrule square as they would any other, and glue a leather tip on as usual. Regards

Unbelievably I've had this job done at Timpsons, the shoe repair people in the High Street! I had a ferrule start splitting at the end of an old Meucci shaft, so I picked the old, steady looking guy and explained what I wanted and he put the shaft into his grinding machine and a second or two later in came out with a perfectly square and flat ferrule! I needed about half an inch taken off and it happened pretty quickly, so a lot of care has to be taken, but it's still working fine! I'm explaining this because cue repairmen are as rare in the UK as the proverbial "rocking horse..." Well, you know!

I didn't know that Dave. Here in the states, seems there's one on every corner now. Maybe I should look into opening a branch shop there in the UK

Thanks guys - but I ideally wanted to have a 2nd shaft with the leather tip so I switch depending on where I'm playing.
Can a shaft be made??

Can a shaft be made?? A shaft can be made for the SLedge, but, problem is getting hands on a tap to make the threads. The thread size is slightly different than other Radial screws, (and taps are very, very expensive to make). The avenue of least resistance, is to order direct from Gullassey. Be happy to find and send you his contact if that would help.

Think of all the fish bait that could be bought for that Glad you approve of the package. The credit for design goes to you though. That was a very nice touch!
