Just trying to establish if you need to break from the break box for IPT qualifiers - or just anywhere behind the head string
I've been practicing from the break box - so hopefully haven't been wasting my efforts there!!!!????????
Any advice guys?? Thanks.

Break box. No phenolic tips. 1ball at front...and you have to hit the 1ball when breaking. Happy Days. -----------------

While we are on this subject.
I noticed the way Efren Reyes was breaking at the Reno event.
I know players have to break from the "box", but I also thought their hand had to be on the table as well. Efren's hand was on the top rail with the cue sliding through his fingers. Surely this way you get better control and more power? If this is the case, why doesnt every player use this technique?

The rules are on the IPT web site, www.internationalpooltour.com
There's no rule about having your hand on the table when breaking and I'm not sure it gives you more power because you are further away from the balls. But I agree it's easier to control and feels more comfortable to me, then again my break is rubbish!

Break box.

1ball at front...and you have to hit the 1ball when breaking. ....and five object balls must contact a rail if no ball is pocketed.
