I would like to inform all of you that ElbowRoom in Oslo, Norway, will host a qualifier for the World Reno 8-ball Open. The qualifier will be organized 18th-20th of August. More information, and registrations, can be done by using this link: http://internationalpooltour.com/ipt_content/event_qualifiers/venues/elbow_room.aspThis will probably be the EASIEST qualifier in Europe! Two weeks before there will be a qualifier in London, then the following weekend will be qualifers both in Holland, Switzerland and Italy. The same weekend as ElbowRoom is hosting, there is a qualifier in Spain, and the weekend after there is a qualifier in London. Norway has got none players in the IPT yet, and since it is more expencive both to stay and travel to Norway comparing to the other qualifiers, I suppose most of the players will try to qualify on the other tournaments. Will you be one of the probably few foreigners playing the qualifier in Norway??? The 2 best players will proceed to Reno...

I was thinking of going in this but flights are around £190 return and I bet hotels are expensive as well. How much are the hotels in and around Oslo? [ This message was edited by: cusack_147 on 2006-08-01 19:36 ]

Ryanair is much much cheaper than that... Think Anthony used something like £15-20 on his trip to the Norwegian 9-ball Challenge...
List over hotels can be found on www.visitoslo.com

Haven't got any information about Ronnie as IPT pro...
Do not know how many players... Only IPT knows, and we will first know when the draw has been made...

Haven't talked much to the IPT lately, because of the NA Open, but sent them an email a couple of weeks ago regarding Ronnie as the IPT-pro. Still waiting for an answer on that.

Well, since people now know that the IPT is for real, with Hohmann getting a suitcase stucked with money live on Eurosport, I suppose there will be more players than there were in London for the qualifer for NA Open. (19 players)
However, this qualifier is 500 $ more expencive so it is hard to tell... 1500 $ in entryfee...
Tomorrow (today) we will have the first qualifier for the qualifer, and then I will know roughly how many Norwegians who will enter. But a wild guess on Norwegians would be about 10 players...

Then add a few swedes, maybe a danish player or two, some players from Finland and maybe a handfull of players from other European countries and I think that would be it...

Cusack - Try searching for Anker Hostel on the net you will find them to be very good on prices.
Ryanair - i booked 2 months in advance with ryanair thats how i got really low costing flights but i would book now if you are interested in going over. I had a look just now fly over will cost ya £30 and the return flight £20 if you fly back on Monday night so with airport tax your looking at £100 for the flights.

Qualifier at ElbowRoom tonight, with only 12 players in. The tournament was played on very slow cloth, and many players had large problems in the beginning with both position play and pocketing on the break... However, in the semifinal Kim Soo Garmark met Kahlil H. Avis and won 8 - 1, while Matey Ullah met Roy Steffensen and won 8 - 2. Kim Soo Garmark is leading 5-4 in the final, race to 8, and the winner will earn a 750$ qualifier, and can of course pay the extra 750$ to enter with the full entryfee. Before the final Kim has a winning % of 77,5 and a total of dissapointing 9 Break and run. Matey Ullah has 68,75 % and only 5 Break and run. Some of the players who didn't make it were Line Kjørsvik, European 9-ball Champion, Lars H. Riiber (15 times Norwegian Champion) and Tron Engebakk, former Norwegian Champion and runner up in the Norwegian 9-ball Championship last year. Expect more players to the qualifier next Wednesday! I just LOVE the IPT!!! PS: Of the players who tried to qualify today, at least 4 of them will play the next EPT, among them the two finalists.

An exciting final!
It started with a dry break from Matey, and then he couldn't use his cue again before Kim was 5 - 0 in front!
Then Matey and Kim were fighting about the racks, but Matey got it to 6 - 6, before Kim got ahead again with 7 - 6.
Then a dry break from Kim, and Matey run out and took a large zip of water before the break on double hill.
His powerbreak didn't work, and left Kim with a difficult table and the cueball on the shortrail.'
Kim looked like a player that doesn't know what to do, before a difficult shot succeded and the solids was chosen. Kim did the job and run-out the rack!
Congratulations!

Anyone from the UK trying to qualify through Oslo? The players meeting will be at 10, but I have talked to the IPT and the tournament will not start before 12. This means that flights to Torp from London will arrive about 9, and with the bus you will be at the poolhall around 11:45. Just enough time to shoot two racks before crushing the opponent Know that Jasmin Ouschan will be playing, after reading her website www.jasmin-ouschan.com

I'm so excited. Soon we will get the draw from the IPT, and then we will know who's chosen to play in Norway...
