Tonight I went out for a quick practise at my local venue and ended up playing in a small tournament. I progressed safely to the semis where I was eliminated by a player while not blowing my own trumpet was not nearly as good as I am, the format was race to 2 which does not really give you much chance if the other guy runs a couple of racks. Im confident that if it had been race to 5 or above I would have easily provailed however I have beaten guys above where I would consider my current level of play to be in race to 5 scenarios. What do you guys think is the ideal number of racks for ability to show through and prevail?

I usually play race to 9 or 10 but much prefer race to 15. [ This message was edited by: Riggers on 2006-06-27 08:53 ]

The longer the better! Ten ahead is a good money game option, but you could end up playing for days!!
I would say a race to 9 or 10 will normally be long enough though, if you race to only 5 or 7 then a few lucky shots could be more significant.

It depends on: the alternate break option. If there is no alternate break I prefer race to 7 or 9.
