Phenolic tips are proven to be the best as most top range break cues have these. You need to have a hard tip for breaking so my advise would to get a Tiger break/ jump tip from the pro shop.

wanna second the Varney reccomendation. i have one with a real chunky shaft and it really strikes the cue ball amazingly well. tried a bk2 and a fury and it beats them hands down.

altho i liked my fury which i got cheap because i could treat it like trash and not worry. on the other hand if i damaged my custom varney... well i might just have to kill myself!

i'll probably be at the appleton/donlon match, if anybody is interested i can bring along my varney if anybody wants to see one. just shoot me a pm on az. or here.

by the way KV makes his jump section slightly longer than anyother cue which greatly improves the jumping ability of it.

Hi guys.I think JandJ jump break is a good choice.I control the cue ball off the break well and the wing ball goes in quite often. It is not expensive.I got my new for 75 US $.By the way,I jump well with JandJ too.Heard of it?

I use a JandJ J/B cue and it is the best i have found for consistant breaks, and as darkside will confirm, in the right hands it has awesome jumping capabilities.

I also had a Predator BK and found the J&J was much better as a break cue. The power increase is noticable, and the accuracy isnt compromised.

so i think we have all decided that there probably isn't a best break/jump cue, but that it really depends on who is using it and personal preferances
