that is more or less what I was suggesting except your method means that after a couple of 10-9 losses you will have more points than one guy that won one match 10-0 and lost one 10-0... in my opinion this is probably not fair and I'm certain Daz would agree... if you read my original idea you will see how we can overcome this by choosing the crossover point.. i.e. how many losing racks are worth one win?

maybe you could multiply ranking points by 20 then add racks...... would give more benefit for winning matches and still roughly the same proportion of the points to what players are getting now

The major problem that I can see in getting no ranking points is that players who play in fewer tournaments can be above players who have played in more, due to rack difference. I have only played in one and lost 10-4 first round, putting me on -6 rack difference, and there are players on lower than -10, indicating thatb they have played in more than one tournament. I think its a little strange that I can be above them. But I appreciate how hard it is to keep all of the players happy! But I must say it was a great tournament and I look forward to the next one.

Bare with me guys, this definately needs a slight change. I am working on a fairer system now as we speak......one that will reward players for winning matches, but at the same time it will reward players for showing commitment to the tour..........and it involves lower ranked players getting CASH!!!!! Leave it with me. -----------------

This is a great thread and I apologise in advance to Daryl for my comments as he has already explained this to me on a pm which I am cool with, but as the discussion has popped up since I thought I would share it with you. Before I do I would like to say that Daryl has already put a lot of thought and effort into the Rankings and the tournament format, so I for one, will back whatever decision Daryl makes and if that is no change then cool The one thing I can't work out is if you play in the first round (12 and are lucky enough to get a 10-0 Bye, you do not get the racks or a Win ?? This means that you are slightly at a disadvantage for getting a Bye (apart from the obvious) and it is much better to play in round one for the rankings. I totally agree that getting the racks is not fair as you did not really win 10 racks but you should in theory get the win as you have progressed to the next stage of the tournament even if it was by default. I think the rankings should be based on Wins and rack scores but how to solve some of the problems above is a real head scratcher Anyway, Great Tour, Great event last weekend and I am sure I will never have to worry about a few racks in the rankings as it will only be the difference between 100 or 101 for me

Ok everyone, i have now introduced a new ranking system which has been back dated to the very first event. There are going to be players who lose places on the list from what they were before, some are going to lose actual points from what they had before. If this is the case then i appolagise btu the new system is much more fair from top to bottom. (I for one will lose quite a few points and EVERYONE will gain on me) Some players will gain places and some will gain ranking points from what they had before the change. The main reason for the change is to reward players more for actually entering an EPT event, as before if you lost your first match you may not have been rewarded in any way. New Points System: winner 15pts R-up 12pts semi 10pts quarter 8pts last 16 6pts last 32 4pts last 64 3pts last 128 2pts last 256 1pt Match wins and rack difference will continue as before. I hope everyone likes the new system. -----------------

english 8ball tour goes like this
round 1 last 128 0points but merit pts per frame won round 2 2pts round 3 4 points last 16 6points qf 8pts sf 10 points r up 12 pts winner 16 pts
thats best in my opinion
but at least dazzler awarding players for turning up and supporting tour...
is it a 2 year rankings dazzler after year 2 you lose your first years points then after year 3 you lose year 2 points then so on etc.. or are the rankins just yearly then start from scratch following year?

I'm happy with the new system simply because like Dazzler has said, it is giving everyone something, just for entering an event and also it will be an incentive for them to want to practice harder, compete more and push themselves to be better players and to try and work their way up the rankings and yet at the same time, giving the winning players recognition for winning the tournament Nice one Daryl, you got my vote on it Willie
