To celebrate the opening of Barnsley's new club, Escape Pool Bar (the old Rileys site) we will be holding a Blackball Open on Saturday 12th January.

The event will be played on newly recovered Tournament Standard Supreme Tables. It's £20 entry of paid in advance using the link below or £25 if paid cash on the day. Play starts at 12 noon.

This is a really great venue, which is now under new ownership and better than ever. Lets support our local clubs and be sure they don't all go the same way as Rileys.

There is more information and an entry form here:

Races will be decided depending on number of entries because I want to give best value for money whilst not finishing at a ridiculous time. Minimum race to 7.

I'm not sure but you can call the club on 01226 779347 to check.

So you only enter when you know enough others have? Can you see a potential problem with that approach if everyone did the same? Sheeesh....

I've had quite a lot of interest the last few days and am hoping for a good turn out to this.

I really don't know of any other venue in our region offering such good facilities i.e. 10 good condition supremes 5 of which have just been been recovered and are playing awesome.

The club owners think we may not have the internet connection in place so there is some doubt as to whether I can do the live stream but I will if I can.

Also note we are now going to guarantee £200 to the winner (subject to a minimum 10 entries). This is just so players can be sure there is value in coming even though there is always uncertainty these days as to how many runners will show.

We are lucky in this area because Ralph puts on regular events in Rotherham, Andy Apps does in Ossett and now we have this great club again in Barnsley. All we need is for players to show some willing to support these events and I really hope they do.

Was amazed when I found out that there was only 8 entries. The tourny was organised by a great organiser in riggers, was at a venue that's one of the best in the country and the tables were all in tip top condition. Just when you think that you've seen it all before, lol.

Played blackball rules for the first time ever and I must say, they're defo the best rules for English pool, promotes attacking pool no end.
