It's with great regret that I have to inform you of the passing of Paul Medati. Paul, seen here attending the GB9 Southern Masters earlier this year, was diagnosed with cancer six months ago and Pro9 has just been informed that he passed away this morning. Our sympathies go to his family - he was a real gentleman and he brightened the room wherever he played, and he will be sorely missed by his many friends here. When details of arrangements are confirmed, they will be available by contacting Neil Jenkins (Mobile: 07969995445) cuecars@yahoo.co.ukRegards, David Knight Editor, Pro9 ----------------- Authorised Pro9 forum advertiser/sponsor [ This message was edited by: BigDave on 2008-11-29 10:48 ]

Legend of the sport. Qualified for the main snooker tour at a time when it was almost impossible given the level of play and what you had to go through to qualify. Never gave up cue sports.
Thoughts go out to his family, he will be sorely missed. A sad day.

What a real shock, I didn't even know he was ill.
My thoughts are with his family at this sad time.
Dave I remember a while back you did a great interview with Paul where he spoke about his amazing life, perhaps you could dig it out for those who have not seen it?
RIP Paul

Such a lovely bloke, I too had no idea he was ill.
Gave some good advice in my first year on tour last season.
Correct me if i'm wrong but i'm sure he won the World Snooker Pairs with John Virgo in the Mid 70's?
RIP Paul.

My heartfely sympathies to all of Paul's friends and family. I have known Paul for over 25 years and will miss him. His dry wit and manner around the snooker table was a mirror of his character. A great friend and a sad day for my personally. Rest In Peace Paul, the snooker team in heaven just notched a good one. Jim Wych

Such sad news... I don't claim to have known Paul very well, but the few times I did meet him, I found him to be a really nice guy. I have some good memories from the WPM2005 thanks to Paul and some of the other lads. And the interview that cueman mentioned was absolutely fantastic. I will always remember when he told me why he started playing pool instead of snooker (because his eyesight had gone in his old age and he couldn't see from one corner pocket to another anymore ) I'm sure he'll be playing snooker up there now!

Very shocking and sad news indeed. Paul was a real character, very passionate about the game and as some have said had some great stories to tell. The last time I remember listening to these stories was this time last year in the bar in Malaga so it's really quite sobering to think how quickly this has all happened. Paul will be a great loss to our game. My sincerest condolences to all of Paul's family. [ This message was edited by: Riggers on 2008-11-29 19:49 ]
