Interestingly, the final tally of Pro9'ers answers was surprisingly close... PRO9'ERS FINAL WINNER PREDICTIONS/VOTESEARL STRICKLAND 23 : 27 SHANE VAN BOENING Personally I think Shane will walk this, and could romp it if he tried. I think he deliberately slows his speed in the early stages of these challenge matches so that he doesn't dissuade any future potential opponents. DAY 1 - SCOREEARL STRICKLAND 25 : 20 SHANE VAN BOENING Well, the score after day one is Earl 25 : 20 Shane, but this is the same "modus operandi" that we have seen so many times before from Shane... A slow start, then a slim lead, and then a still modest victory. I know Earl has beaten Shane before in a TAR match, but that's my confident prediction - I would eat my hat if Earl wins this*, not apart from the fact that he seems to be expending more energy being a character than actually looking focused on the game. Fun to watch, he has already been slapping his cue's shaft on the side of the table, and even whacking the floor with the tip of the cue - so much so that he actually felt he needed to change his cue shaft after they had played less than ten racks! I know I could be wrong, anything could happen, but it does surprise me that anyone might really think Earl can continue to lead and ultimately win this match up? *It's just a turn of phrase... I can't believe I'm actually spelling this out, but even if pigs actually learn to fly, I will not be consuming any headgear whatsoever![ This message was edited by: BigDave on 2011-12-03 13:20 ]

Agree - absolute legend!
But...
I think if it were a popularity contest Earl would win all day long, he's achieved so much in a long career, and he talks a lot of sense, despite appearing a bit potty lately, but if I were putting my cash on the line I would very rarely be betting against Shane.
Earl has missed a lot of shots - and so has Shane, but I reckon Shane will miraculously stop missing when it comes close to pay day.

Please remember the broadcast starts 3 hours earlier tonight, that's 9pm UK time! Edit: Ignore the above, that's just me getting excited, and confusing EST with PST - starts at the usual time, [ This message was edited by: BigDave on 2011-12-04 19:56 ]

Shane won 75 - 67. Earl lead by a game I think at around 65 - 64 and managed to beat himself. He played some amazing pool and was good entertainment but by the end he was highly disrespectful of Shane.
