Yes, I'm thinking it might extend to 16 blogs at a later stage, but I want to get 8 going first and see how it goes.

Raj is a fun player to watch and listen to! Had he not won a major like the World Pool Masters he would still be in my eyes a top player and very good for the sport. I know my opinion counts for very little but there it is...

We at Cue King Promotions should like to wish all the best to Matthew Lester on his new blog on Pro9.co.uk.
This is a great opportunity for Matthew to show and tell the European Pool community what an exceptional talent he really is.
Well done Pro9!

hi maverik i assume you have done something amazing to call yourself that?? anyway who are you? i would love you to come and play Raj sometime? p.s you do know he is stil only 28 years old? still starting out his career... p.s Joe Johnson is a legend..hands up who would not want to finish ahead of him in a awards show? p.s fact: jimmy white never was world champ..according to your wise logic...he has no right to be called a great player.... ----------------- THE PLACE TO BE MIST BAR POOL AND SNOOKER 236a high street HOUNSLOW 0208 572 9222 [ This message was edited by: DEMON on 2010-08-15 21:36 ]

Now then Maverick.... would you say GB9 is a tough tour to do well at? Well apart from the odd cameo appearance Raj only played in season one along with the likes of Appleton, Drago, Peach, Majid, Gray, Osborne, Boyes and many more great players. His results in the 5 main events he played were 3rd, 2nd, 2nd, 3rd and 5th. He was beaten to the top spot only by extraordinary performances from Majid & Appleton, whom he came very close to beating in each of their encounters including a thrilling hill-hill thriller against Majid that went to the last ball where he was millimeters off a brilliant and couragous full table bank that would have denied Imran his famous run of 4 consecutive victories. Raj is one of our best EVER players and that's why the top UK players respect his game so much. [ This message was edited by: Riggers on 2010-08-16 08:28 ]

I think everybody is getting a bit carried away with the post which I have tried only to challenge the reason why raj beleives that he is in the same mix as some of the players that he associates himself with, his ability as a player is not in question as I would agree he is a great player but has work to do before he is at the level of some of his compatriates. I have also commented that I am actually a fan and if raj is playing I would always make a point of trying to watch as I would with the others. Unfortunately were raj falls down is by seemingly trying to make people beleive he is a much better player by what he says rather than what he does on the table. While he is still competing competitively and I see he has done well by the comment from riggers on the Gb tour there are many more players out there doing equally as well and in many cases much better without all the talk. Over the past couple of years we have had world champs and major winners in all the disaplines as well as numerous eurotour winners and oversea event winners but for whatever reason raj has not managed to feature since his run of successes in 2005. As for playing raj, I am a pool fan but he is way out of my league.

When explained like that u have a Fair point mavrick, Raj does like to blow his own trumpet and name drop quite regular but that's raj, it's like water off a ducks back, he is a great player with talent in abundance ( like alot of the players in the uk ) he is also a character you need in events, if the pool world was full of thorstens, ralfs it would be like walking in to a pool room full of cardboard cut outs.

I just read the new entries from Daryl Peach and Matt Lester. Presumably Daryl considers those qualities his strength at the table amongst other things. I think its a neat idea to understand your values as a player and I felt inspired to do something similar! Do you think I should start a petition to encourage Jasmin Ouschan to blog for us?

Yes. She is a consumate professional and is involved in a lot of the big tournaments with the men. From memory she had a high finish in one of the major 14.1 tournaments too so this shows her class.
