For those that have been around the game for a while, you should remember the name James Akenhead who turned pro poker player a few years back. Anyway, he placed second in a World Series of Poker event for $500,000 in 2008 and he is now 9th in chips in this year's main event with 185 players left where the winner will receive a cool $8.5 million! Good luck James take it down! ----------------- Chris @ Pro9[ This message was edited by: Buckster_uk on 2009-07-13 17:54 ]

Gooooooooooooooo Akey Breaky!!! He used to love the action at Victoria! http://www.pokerhitsquad.blogspot.com/James finished 2nd last time in the monstrous $1,500nl event with a field of just under 4,000, picking up a tasty $520k. He played some unbelievable poker and if not for one of the cruelest outdraws in WSOP memory on the final hand, he would have picked up a thoroughly deserved gold bracelet. I remember James popping into the Centrepoint pool club over five years ago with London pool local So. They were sniffing around for 9 ball races to ten for £20-£50. Good to see poker offering him greater rewards. [ This message was edited by: Pitster on 2009-07-13 18:06 ]

I'm keeping a wee eye on the WSOP Live Blog and James has just lost a good chunk of his stack. He's still in there, but he's going to have to work hard and quote Efren - "get lucky!" Best wishes thecardman PS Hope you don't mind me putting the link in there, Dave. ----------------- The Cardman's Blog

"Wed, 15 Jul 2009 12:05:57 A Tardy Akenhead Well, cards are in the air just a shade after noon local time. On the outer table all players were in their seats -- except for James Akenhead. Akenhead was conspicuously absent, having not yet made his way into the Amazon Room. His chip bag was opened and dumped onto the table, with his overnight bag tag resting on top of his chips. About three minutes after cards were in the air, he hurriedly made his way into the room and took his seat at the table." Woops! As Pete said above James has lost a big pot where his Kings came up against Aces so he is down to just over 2 million.. stick in there mate!

Pokers not that simple Craig,a professional would be able to win most games by getting terrible hands all night!! The bluff the re-raise the fold etc all mean a lot at certain points of the match. Would be amazing if James won it although last year an unbelieveable twist of fake denyed him. [ This message was edited by: Majestic on 2009-07-16 07:58 ]
