Ladies and Gentleman.

Due to what can only be descriped as an epic lack of funds, and what seems like a cause which is not acheivable I am embarking upon a pain-staking mission, one that may well end in failure however, one must try.....

To earn my entry into the gb9bt by turning all the spare cash i have on this planet (£5) into enough to pay for my new cue and entry fees.. This is a desperate situation and I will need all the cunning I own to do this. My chosen outlet is online Poker. A Fickle Mistress who will no doubt go to the bathroom on me from a great height. However, if my soul is pure and my hope is great enough is there a possibility of acheiving my goal in time?

I only have a couple of 2 hour windows a week to play and have so far played in 4 of these 'sessions'

The results are mixed, but vaguely promising. My initial stake of £5 rocketed to £20 after the first session, dropped to £15 after session 2, down to £9 after session 3, but you will all be glad to know I have moved forward after an impressive showing this morning to the princely sum of £39.70. No doubt I will have to enter the bigger stake games now to evolve this mission to the next level, but with good wishes from you all I believe that the light I have searched this bloody tunnel for will come into view.

This is a testament to what one can acheive if you want something badly enough. So grant me your ears and I will continue this story of hope until the last penny goes, or until I reach the promised lands.

Onward to Victory
-----------------------------------------------------------------

This may well be a testament to how bored I am @ work so if this truly has no interest please tell me and I will remove it, if not, happy reading, and I hope you share this journey with me

If you manage to turn £5 into £500 playing online poker then I wouldn't bother with Pool anymore and you should also consider giving up work.

Good luck anyway.

Thanks for the kind words guys. Maybe it is only a dream, but this is going to go one of 2 ways. Either I will be back on here soon lamenting the end of the road, or perhaps, just perhaps this could be the precursor to the greatest story ever told in which I win myself enough for entry into the tour, qualify for the worlds and travel around the world flying the flag. at this point in time I would settle for somewhere in between :-). And if nothing else, hopefully I can keep you all entertained with the trials and tribulations.
-------------------------------------------------------
A sense of foreboding was the theme to this mornings session. a slight rise was encouraging but couple that with an annoying run of bad luck and the journey has just started to get bumpy. There may be a storm on the horizon as my fund drops to £32.something. But onwards and hopefully upwards we shall go. The dreamland is a long way away, but I bet when Mr Tolkien told his friends about an idea he had involving a Hobbit they laughed at him too.

lol thanks Dave. it is a mammoth task, but I have little choice, I really want to get involved but alas the funds dictate otherwise, we are moving soon and that will eliminate any spare money I would of had. Unless 100 memebers want to put £5 in....... ah well, if I cant play I will still do my darndest to get there and support it.

Yee who hath little faith!
stay strong, only play the best hands and only all in with the Nuts.....
You will have to up the stakes at some point but i suggest staying small until you reach at least £100.
Nicking £5 here and there is progress! have small targets for each session pal and im sure you can get there. the moment you get greedy and try to make big steps - the Tinternet poker gods will swallow you in a oner!!!

good luck pal!

Greed is certainly not a factor here. I try and mix between the sit and go's ($5) and the big 'scheduled tournies' only like $2 or $5 with a few hundred people. Only venture into the real money games rarely. But the only nuts I had this morning were the peanuts lady luck uses to wipe her nose.

get on the sit n gos - 6 or 9 at a table, normally fairly straightforward to get to the last 2 if your playing well enough. and you nick a few quid.
too much of a lottery with 75 players+

GOWAAAAN! you can do it....

It started as just a way of killing a coupl eof hours, but I have 'theme' music blaring out of my laptop as I play. I must look like a right fool. But who cares, certainly not me. And I know what you mean about the big tournies, but I am thinking that the key to it is there somewhere, a high place finish in just one of them and I jump up a few hundred dollars. but the sit-and-go's are where it is at for the moment. And should all go well I hope I am not tired of poker, would be cool to get in some games going on at the tournaments.

the 2 are linked. Both can be as casual as you like or very important. Equally the frustration and joy levels are similar

yea i bet, i have played a little poker before, not for much but the odd penny here and there. It also requires a lot of conversation without showing that you have them nerves ect.

I am sure there will be interest in a few games before/after the tournaments. Its a good way of kicking back and relaxing, just a small buy-in, a few beers/whatever makes for an enjoyable night.

A quick double tourney was to be had upon arrival home from work. Pocket Kings awaited me in only the 3rd hand in, excellent was my first thought... oh bugger was my second as I thought I had trapped a guy all-in only for him to river a set holding Ace nothing. So a blow to begin with.... could it be recovered in the last of the night.......

the devils playground yes it could. After dropping down below £30, a good victory in the last tourny of the evening jumped me back up to £37.80. now to play this morning, update in a couple of hours.
