GB9

GB9 Committee

Dear all,

The new GB9 Committee is delighted to announce the following:

- GB9 has now been officially taken over by Dean Jenkins-Sporton and Luke Hart.

- The GB9 committee will be working on a voluntary basis.

- The new venue for GB9 is Bradmoor Farm, Stanbridge Road, Haddenham, Aylesbury, HP17 8JX.

- Entry fees will be £750 for tier 1 and tier 2 players, and £900 for Pro Division players. Which will run along side the main event as usual. This will be for five events in 2024.

- Dates have been confirmed for: 19th to 21st April, 4th to 6th October, and 8th to 10th of November. Two more dates between May and July will be finalised and announced as soon as possible.

- Players will need to arrange hotel accommodation themselves in nearby locations. We will provide a list of local hotels, but you will not be booking through GB9.

More news will follow, including methods of taking deposits, assistance with accommodation, and any other relevant information relating to GB9.

We will also be running polls for you, the players, to help with some of the decision-making.

We thank you for your patience and remain committed to providing you the pinnacle of 9 Ball in the UK.

The GB9 Committee would like to provide the following updates for players.

We're really excited to be able to set up a method to take deposits for 2024.
The PayPal link is: paypal.me/gb9balltour

PLEASE SEND VIA FRIENDS AND FAMILY

In order to secure your place, all amateur players need to transfer £150 and pros £250 as your deposit.

Payment plans will be:

Amateurs
£150 deposit payable immediately
£150 payable before event 1
£150 payable before event 2
£150 payable before event 3
£150 payable before event 4
Total £750

Pros
£250 deposit
£175 event 1
£175 event 2
£175 event 3
£175 event 4
Total £950

PLEASE SEND VIA FRIENDS AMD FAMILY

Tournament format:
There will be 3 events.
Pro event, Amateur event, Main even.
All top players from the ranking have been contacted for the pro status. Should you wish to play in the pro event but have not been contacted. Please contact Luke Hart or Dean sporton.

Tables:
Mr Sung tables are manufactured in China, and therefore there will be a lead time involved in getting these to the UK on top of the production times. At this time, shipping times have extended, and with Chinese New Year ceasing production, we are now looking at receiving the tables towards the latter part of this year.

Hotels and Accommodation:
Please do not book accommodation at Double Tree Oxford Belfry, Premier Inn or Ramada, until we provide you a code or link to book through. We expect to announce more hotel information next week.

As is always the case, we wish to thank those who are currently assisting the GB9 Committee with the large amount of work that goes into resurrecting the tournaments. We won’t go into naming them, but their support, advice, and actions, make it much easier to deal with the challenges that we have to address.

Due to the costs of many players trying to qualify for the UK Open, GB9 are now unable to host the first event at Bradmoor Farm. We fully support players trying to enter the UK Open and the costs involved in doing so.

As a result, GB9 is working with Matchroom to organise the Amateur UK Open, to be held at the same venue and time as the UK Open, and will be open to all players who are not participating in the UK Open or are knocked out in the first round (TBC, depending on Matchroom's scheduling).

All other GB9 events in 2024 will be held at Bradmoor Farm as originally scheduled and we will be in touch with players who paid for the April event to get in touch so you can either get refunded, or hold the money on account.

Dear all,

As you are aware, GB9 have been taken over by a new committee and recently announced tour dates for 2024, which we have been unable to fulfil, perhaps due to a bit of over-enthusiasm to get GB9 back up and running, and due to players focusing on qualifiers for the UK Open.

We’ve spent a lot of time talking to players about the direction of GB9. It is our intention to listen to players as the origins of GB9 were supposed to be “for the players, by the players”.

We also brought on board a new committee member, Dan Suh, who funded the running of the Amateur UK Open, recently held in Telford alongside the UK Open. Dan brings a pragmatic approach to GB9 and we are undergoing significant changes to ensure the future of GB9, whilst preserving what made GB9 so unique.

Our event management of the Amateur UK Open demonstrated to many players (and ourselves) that we have full capability to run significant events, and we want to express our gratitude, again, to everyone who made it so successful.

Moving forward, it seems fairly clear that there is still a lot of rebuilding work to ensure that GB9 can get to where we think it could be. This mainly refers to the financing of the tour, but we have already saved costs in some areas, mainly by securing Bradmoor Farm for events in 2024 without charge, securing the new Z9 cloth (courtesy of Z9 and Spots and Stripes Club in London), and having new Tournament Black Aramith balls with scoring tablets, all provided free of charge (courtesy of Korea Foods Company).

We will be publishing summary accounts at the end of each year, so you will see where money is being spent, and what money is being utilised towards the investment for GB9’s future. All finances are being administered independently of GB9, with an accountant to verify all transactions. This is at no cost to GB9. This is purely to demonstrate to players that the committee is committed to maximising value.

As a result of the efforts that have been ongoing for the past few months, we will be announcing two events for the remainder of 2024, which we hope all players will be supporting us with. More details will be announced very soon.

We know that we're not going to get everything right, but we can assure you all of our best intentions at all times.

Yours faithfully,
GB9 Committee

GB9
