Can you not put results up as they come in once a week even if you don't have all the results for that week Tone.

How's it going for everyone around the country? Have to say I'm really enjoying it - we've got a good friendly bunch down in Shepherd's Bush, 18 players with a full spectrum of abilities, and Shir is running things excellently (although it's a bit more stressful for her than she'd like I think!), and it seems new players are getting interested in joining each week. The venue is excellent and very accommodating too. Hopefully this initiative will grow elsewhere and we can start doing the original 3-person team idea eventually too, would really help 9ball grow I think. What's the state of play on participating venues? OJD

I think ours (Sunderland) looks like one of the toughest ! all players in the top 30....I've been playing like a balloon lol ...but have recently changed back to playing with my snooker cue and now playing 100% better with more confidence !....(was ill-advised to go get a 14mm tipped 3x2 timber log' to be able to play 9 ball properly).... NB. would be better if there were proper fixture lists available with names printed on them ? ....no idea from one week to the next who I'm playing or if there's a bye !..also the match sheets that we are given by the club are useless (need a magnifying glass to read them) We need proper fixture lists A.S.A.P. ----------------- The Agent [ This message was edited by: Agentsoap on 2010-04-03 13:40 ]

agentsoap, check the print setting as mine takes up a full A4. Perfectly legible... I also made a phone list of all the players with their player number. I text everyone with the fixtures of the week and they can check it themselves with that list and call each other if they have to reschedule. Just small things that I've implemented to make it run a bit smoother... Still not perfect but it seems like every week goes a bit smoother lol How many people have you got in your club, I might still have a copy as we've had 10 players at the start and now 18, so might have one for you that is already set right..

I don't know if your post is a dig at my question, or looking for further clarification? If the former, then I'm sorry if I've agitated you or indeed anybody else. I figured more people (ie club organisers) may see this and may be able to tell me quicker. I can only imagine how busy Tony is, and would hate to put more work on him.

OJD Hi OJD, the Leicester GB9 league seems to be running okay although it hasn't run perfectly. Our organiser has done everything he can, but there was a farce in week 3 where players who'd played in week 1 played each other again in week 3! That is an unfair advantage if the skill differential is huge. On a personal note, I wish I hadn't had some personal problems to deal with else I feel I'd be in the top 8, rather than the top 16 where the current table lists me.

Ask the person who has it to send it to me and I'll have a look at it... GB9 Leagues has sent them out but could be that the settings of the printer int he club are wrong.. First time I printed them in the club, it was tiny, but on a "normal" printer and "normal" pc they came out normal...

Hi everyone been working "away" so sorry for any delays in responding. i'll cover a few posts here. Payal: some have reported problems paying, all i can say is it is definitely working, just make sure you put your country in at the bottom (not necessary i know but a paypal requirement). Results/ League Tables: i am at the mercy of the clubs here posting the results. I will write to all clubs reminding them of the need to report results efficiently. Hopefully the system that is n place will see all results put in by Sunday night and league tables updated every monday evening. Contact: Dave has kindly gave us our own forum, so please post under GB9 Leagues, or feel free to contact me at bigtone@gb9leagues.info. Print size: all the forms sent to the club were justified and should be easy to read, if this is not the case then please ask the manager to check their printer settings. Players playing each other (Farce at Leics: Bfrench) : the way the format works (whilst still allowing people to join at any stage) will every now and then throw up an opponent you may have already played. Imagine if a top amateur joined late into the schedule and you had to play him a few times instead of players whom you started with. Would this be fair?. So please accept it is just a quirk in the system. If you know better feel free to email me. Im always open to suggestions. Hows it going?? (OJD,Agent Soap,BFrench) well its not as simple as i would like and their are many areas on which the leagues intend to improve on. That said though, all the players ive spoke to have said they are enjoying it. We will be bringing on another four clubs in the next week, with talks at another three hoping to conclude for the week after. Overall, im glad we made a start. Yes there's plenty to improve on but these are just growing pains. i am confident that in the future seasons to come we will achieve our goals (in terms of numbers of players) and win over those club managers whom are still a little skeptical. Where the leagues are running, managers and players alike all are reporting positive feedback. Thank you for your patience, and in a little while i am gonna announce on another thread our new league sponsor. Field of dreams people, field of dreams. Big Tone

Tony, cheers for clearing up why some repeat fixtures occur. Understand the points you've made and can't really offer better.
If I was to offer one suggestion, it wouldn't be because the current systems trash (on the contrary I like the fact players can join late). But maybe a 'swiss' system could be put in place, where winners can only play another winner the following week, drawers play drawers and losers play losers. With the stipulation that you cannot play the same player more than once.
I suppose if there is one flaw with this, it is that the system works best with even numbers, else a player could get a bye where one isn't given to everybody else.
I do think the whole league works best on an individual basis and not as teams. As 9-ball is a growing sport I think if people play individually it gives them more chance to catch up.
Apologies if any previous post sounded negative, because my feelings are quite the opposite. I look forward to my Monday night out, 17 racks of pool against a good bunch of people and it is organised as well as it could be!

Yes, if a swiss system could be incorporated then that might be a good way to manage the fixtures, and ensure a more representative national league table perhaps. Not thought that through fully though and my head starts to spin when I do the maths, so will leave it to others to debate its worth! I'm just happy to play...
I also agree that it would be a shame to lose the present singles league format - it fills a gap below the GB9 tour for the amateur level and gives us non-tour people some proper competitive pool to get stuck into. When I said I hoped for the team thing to get going, it was on top of the singles thing, if it could be managed.
Overall, however, it's great stuff and keep going Tony, this is all very much welcome and your efforts appreciated.
