its time this legend of cuesports recieves a well deserved knighthood. to knock out the defending champion at age 52 is amazing. in my eyes the greatest snooker player ever. a great ambasador for the game of snooker and role model to us all on how to behave on and off the table.

I know what you mean, the man is a legend... But he was already awarded an OBE in 2001... Not sure what more they could give him really?
Words fail me - definitely an inspiration to us all!

I can think of a 15 time world champion, approaching 50. No knighthood for him either.

Isn't the reason Phil Taylor had his MBE nomination cancelled, and why he'll never get an honour, is because of his conviction for indecent assault?
Not passing judgement, as I suspect there was more to it than was reported, but that's obviously the reason.
Back to Davis - what a great result for the old fella?!

Back to Davis - what a great result for the old fella?! Great result for Davis! Absolutely shocked, cannot believe it. I had Higgins nailed for another title, but I'm pleasantly shocked As for Taylor, you are right about why his MBE was stripped, and probably why nobody else involved with Darts will get an award from the Monarchy again. Then again, Eric Bristow was a little thug who performed burglaries and petty crimes yet he had an MBE next to his name before Taylor, so who knows?

Phil Taylor was apparently in the honours list one year but was taken our for the alleged indecent assault (which I think was dropped).
So he's probably not going to get anything.
Great result for Davis though. Only 3 more matches to go!

He was nominated for an MBE (possibly even awarded it) but the sexual assault conviction meant it was withdrawn/stripped. And it definitely wasn't dropped and he was indeed convicted. Got a feeling his driver got done for lying in court too or something. In any case, he won't get nowt because of it, which is a shame because I'm not entirely sure he wasn't done over there, but I didnt sit in court seeing all the evidence so cannot really comment to be fair.
I do hope Davis get's another result or two, or three. If he got to the final it'd be the best thing to have happened to snooker in years (perhaps that is Hearn's big plan....).

Steve's got an MBE & an OBE so don't think he will get anything else, but he deserves everything he gets. You can't bet against him now.
