Hello Guys, Not much competition out here so im spending alot of time doing solo practice but dont know any drills or good things to practise. Can someone help with some suggestions, I play a fair bit of snooker but pretty new to 9 ball. Thanks Steve [ This message was edited by: SteveBurford on 2007-05-25 13:45 ]

Think, beside of watching a lot of pool videos with professional players, you learn the most by practicing on your own. From time to time, for control reasons, take a coach that answers your questions. Have a look @ PAT----------------- [ This message was edited by: lau001 on 2007-05-25 14:19 ]

Try playing the ghost in a race to 10 and see how many you can win.
Break off then take ball in hand. If you clear in that visit you win the rack, otherwise the ghost wins the rack.
See how your scores improve with practice.
I've not tried this at 9 ball but have at 8 ball where I could win 10-0 on a good day!

Hi, Steve. Just recently I asked the self same question. I typed in 'nine ball practice' for a search and came up with some very interesting drills. Too many and varied to tell but you should get the same hits as me, I'dhave thought. Good luck.

yes thats sort of what i have been doing, just breaking and trying to run out and keeping score.
i thought their might be line ups or something there are no 9 ball coaches out here, we didnt even have any decent 9 ball tables till a few months ago. sb..

Steve. Try the 'ghost' drill for a start. Rack up the 1, 2 and 3 balls in a triangle, break off and then try and clear them in order. Immediately after the break you get ball in hand, so you can start from where you like, and any balls potted on the break stay down (but it's best not to pot any!). The 'ghost' player is your opponent, who is the ultimate player. Therefore if you miss a shot you've lost and you re-rack. It's the first to a 3-rack lead, at which point you add another ball and play a 4-ball ghost, then a 5-ball etc (but if you lose by 3 racks you remove a ball). Have a look for '9-ball pool drills' on Google though, as there are a lot of very good options out there! I started off with 3 balls, but I've worked up to consistent 6-ball ghost victories at the moment and it's helped me to increase my 9-ball runouts because one mistake and the game is over! Hi, Steve. I popped it into Google and found some varied and interesting practices. I've tried them and it has helped me a lot. Not just the potting but my concentration levels and what I thought I could do but really couldn't do properly or consistently.

My mum always told me too much solo practice would make you go blind.
