314 over z, you have to soooooo acurate with the z a tiny bit out and you over spin it, mainly due to smaller tip, and i prefer 314(2) to 314 but don't use any of em at the moment sticking to my original Jim White shaft. [ This message was edited by: RACKRUNNER21 on 2007-03-27 17:33 ]

Definately 314 for me. When I first bought a cue about a year ago I thought the Z shaft would be best as I was used to the smaller tips from english pool & snooker but I just couldn't get on with it so I tried a 314 and instantly liked it.

I've been using the 314 shaft on my bk break cue to play english pool as i feel more comfortable with it than an english pool cue, is that crazy?

I'd take the 314 over the Z. I find the z shaft pretty unforgiving, if you strike the cue ball just slightly off where you want to hit it you can end up a mile out of position. You can spin the cue ball so much its unbelivable.

If it were slow napped cloth I'd say the Z is the way to go but defo 314 on a speed cloth.
