I would say if your going to spend £150 on a cue you can do a LOT better than a Cuetec.

9m, if you are looking for a snooker style pool cue I have a really nice one for sale. Made by Craftsman Cues and commissioned by Simon D'Vali, it really is a nice piece of wood. Cost me £240 about 4 months ago but im only looking for around £150. If anyone else is interested, pm me with any questions. [ This message was edited by: cusack_147 on 2007-03-05 19:35 ]

Look for a good condition second hand cue if your budget is low, rather than buying a poorer production cue new.

Hello 9m, I'd try and find a used Bear or Falcon cue (eBay Germany is a great place to look). Shocking coming from me eh! Also heard good things about Schmelke cues as you can pick a lot of your own options (like with Viking) and end up with something a bit different. Made in the US too. If you like the snooker cue style you could get a John Parris maple cue as used by Steve Davis, Tony Drago and Lee Tucker. I think maple shafts are an option on all of his cues so you'd be looking at around £200 for the basic model or from £272 made to measure. Stretching the budget I know but if that's the style of cue you like it might well be worth it. Chris. Edit- forgot to mention Joss cues- there are several of those in the £150 range and they're meant to be great. [ This message was edited by: Chrstc on 2007-03-05 16:20 ]

If you can stretch your budget a bit more my choice would be a Bob Frey sneaky. After that i'd go for entry level Mezz.

Cant go wrong with a Predator Sneaky Pete for £200 there are other cues for the same money with predator shafts also. The main thing id want if i was you is for the cue to have a predator shaft. [ This message was edited by: 77tricky on 2007-03-05 18:10 ]

Regardless of stats and how many players use what.....its all down to personal preference and what you are used to....don't let anyone tell you otherwise.

Predator shafts really do work very well and everyone i play pool with regularly plays with them but i've just never really taken to them. The best thing to do before you make your decision on which cue to buy is to try as many different ones as possible, tho i know that not always easy.

As others have said if you want to get good value for money I would say buy something second hand but in good condition after trying it out first. [ This message was edited by: Riggers on 2007-03-06 09:52 ]

I might just get a Sneaky Pete does anyone on here have any experience of them?Would it effect my style of play as I have a loose back arm? Also what shaft is best to get a 314 or a Z shaft?

If you have a loose back arm i'd recommend a 314 over a z. The z is much better suited to a disciplined snooker style cue action and is very unforgiving to a typically pool style cue action. Craig Osborne uses a Sneaky and he made the final at Manchester this last weekend if thats good enough for you. I'm on MSN for a bit if you want anymore info.
