Hi Guys. I'm after a little help. Does anyone know someone who can do a decent re-tipping job in the north. I used to do them myself but my new shafts have ivory ferruls and i seriously don't want to mess them up. I know theres a guy that does shaft maintainence at some of the bigger event but can you send him shafts through the post to have work done on them?? Also anyone know where the the cheapest place to get Sniper tips from in the uk? The guy i used to get them off in the states has packed up. Cheers [ This message was edited by: Administrator on 2007-01-10 08:41 ]

The best person I know in the north is Bob Akers from Gildersome (near Ikea off M62) but he does snooker cues and I don't know if he does american pool cues too. He's quality and lots of snooker pros have used his work. Text me if you want his number.
PC should know where to get snipers.

Akers does American cues also.
Craig, I would try Martin Chesworth first as he lives in Sheffield. Great cue maker also.

Awesome post on AZ.
Diamond, PC, do either of you have the tools required to carry this out, I fancy having a stab?

Its a good article and if i was not using predator shafts then i would do more myself, the problem is the 1st generation predator ferrules are very soft, You would only need to be a little out on using the tools such as sander or big shaver and then you will have done your ferrule wihich is not cheap to have predator replace. I think the most cost effective way is to go see Bob AKERS and leave your shaft with him, he does care and will make a tidy job for you. And when you get it back the tip will stay on and the ferrule will be level which is not someting you can guarantee doing it yourself. As for getting sniper tips i dont want to step on Bigdaves toes this is his site and i'm sure he will be selling them in the near future. ----------------- [ This message was edited by: PC on 2007-01-10 13:25 ]

One of the best re-tippers in the north west would have to be Les Dodd. He does all my tips (snooker and pool) and they are always fantastic. He also re-tips cues for Stephen Hendry, Ronnie O'Sullivan, John Parrott and loads of others. He is also pretty good value as well and is based in Southport. He will also clean up your shaft, ferrule and joints as well for you. [ This message was edited by: cusack_147 on 2007-01-10 14:06 ]
