I assume it's super glue in which case I would try and *very very* carefully scrape it off with a sharp stanley knife. This way with careful hands you should be able to flick it off without taking any of the ferrule at the same time. Steady hands and take your time is the order of the day!

Another option would be wire-wool and this should take away anything on the ferrule, whenever ive had a new tip put on it is always wire-wooled afterwards and the ferrule looks as good as new.

What type of ferrule do you have? is it a predator shaft 1st or 2nd gen? or another make? be very careful with pred 1st gen they are real soft avoid too much heat or sanding. Wire wool even fine can leave the finish of the ferrule un smooth causing it make chalk stick, or if unlike riggers you do not have steady hands using a knife can result in an expensive repair bill. Other options would include solvents but if not careful this could cause your tip to come off or ferrule to come loose if you go crazy. If you wish to ever refinish a ferrule ie smooth it off, then try micro-mesh finishing cloths they are recommend by cue repair men in the states they go down real fine (they come in fine and coarse sets so be careful which you get. Believe it or not even tooth paste is recommended to clean a ferrule!!!!!!! ----------------- [ This message was edited by: PC on 2007-01-08 17:30 ]

There used to be a toothpaste called Pearl Drops, I used it for years to keep my ferrules clean, don't know if it still exists so I use ordinary toothpaste now. [ This message was edited by: malaguista on 2007-01-10 09:27 ]

Toothpaste sounds like a nice idea for ongoing cleaning but I can't see it removing super glue. The only thing i can see working other than a sharp knife is, like PC said, a special solvent specifically for that purpose. I'm always a bit nervous about using chemicals though as you just never know what it will do to the ferrule so personally I stand by the knife solution. You know where you are with that. Careless hands and you chop your ferrule to bits - steady hands and it's job done!

Riggers if you ever see micro-mesh finishing cloths in fine ie 12000 grade then they are well worth a go ----------------- [ This message was edited by: PC on 2007-01-09 12:49 ]

Be careful putting any solvent near a ferrule....especially a Predator ferrule. Let PC tell you about his melted ferrule episode. Not an uncommon event, I know a few other stories where this has happened.

9m look for real fine wool but if you have a steady hand then i would say a scalpel would be the best as real sharp but delicate, the kind you could use for Marquetry. ----------------- [ This message was edited by: PC on 2007-01-09 17:00 ]
