I'm going to invest in a set of Aramith American Balls and looking for a bit of advice. I'm trying to establish the difference between a standard set and a TV set, other than the obvious pink 4 and 12 balls. There's a big difference in price and I'm trying to establish whether it's worth the extra spend. I'm a reasonable standard player - break and running out maybe 2/3 in 10 racks. Any advice would be appreciated please.

My understanding is it costs more to make a pink ball according to big Dave

Seems Legit Cueboy88 Additionally, there's Duramith ones for another £30 or so. What warrants those being more?

3 different resins they use when making the ball sets. tier 1 is the aramith crown belgiums and premier sets tier 2 is the premium balls tier 3 is the super aramith balls the diffrences between these balls is the colors and mostly the resin. crowns and premier sets will scratch much easier than say the premium sets and the no's on the premium balls are more of a translucent than the black bold color on the premier and crowns. so pretty much you are paying for the different resins they use in each set and the amount of time and cost for aramith to make these ball sets. ----------------- Tony Southern BWPPA Chairman/Administrator www.bwppa.com BPF President Authorised Pro9 Advertiser [ This message was edited by: tigger147 on 2016-12-22 19:00 ]

Thanks Tony. I bought myself a nice pristine set of super pro cup TV balls yesterday! I spent the evening excitedly rolling them around my living room carpet! 😁

Matt Lester! You're supposed to put a big smiley face after saying something like that!!! Seriously though, I met the director of Saluc at a Trade Show and he showed me some top quality balls that had been cut in half, and you can see the colour gets darker towards the outside of the ball, compared to the lower priced balls which remained the same colour all the way through. Apparently, this is because the the better balls are baked longer or hotter or something, but the end result is that the finish is much harder - which makes the balls more resistant to wear and tear. So they keep their shape and weight for longer, stay shiny for longer, which results in reduced wear and tear on the cloth and more consistent roll. Obviously harder balls are harder to finish, polish etc. So more expensive to make - and the balls are supposed to be more accurately weighted and matched, although I've weighed lots of ball sets, and it never seems to be an issue with new balls, just older, cheaper balls seem to change size and weight really quickly. So the better balls are definitely worth paying for - the TV coloured balls are very popular with our customers who don't seem to mind paying an extra tenner to have the same colours that they use on the TV tournaments - I guess it adds a little extra thrill when you first open a brand new set of balls. Incidentally, I rate opening a brand new box of balls right up there with the best things in life - I mean, it's not something you do every day, and they are soooooo darn beautiful! I hope you like you balls!!!

Does anyone know what the difference between the Aramith Pro Cup TV balls and the Aramith Duramith Tournament TV balls are? Recently sold my Aramith Pro Cup TV balls that I had for 5 years to help fund Christmas shopping, but I'm going to buy a new set when I have sufficient funds

Matt, next time you see me in Barnsley have a look. I've been using them must be two years now They play the same just look a bit nicer and a meant to be more hard wearing and therefore less wearing on the table. -----------------

Are Brunswick Centennial better than Aramith Super Pro TV, or is it purely a matter of taste?

I've always assumed they were on an equal par with each other - although I love the design of the little chevrons either side on the numbers on the Centennials.
