I'm cleaning my cue shafts because they are starting to go blue & get generally dirty, but what I want to know is how do I remove chalk from the tip as I want to change from the sky blue I'm using now to a tan colour without compromising the integrity of the tip.
I use a white diamond break tip & a Hirano Hard playing tip if that helps.

Those tips are both quite robust mate, so a good wipe with a dry cloth, and just start using the new colour chalk and in no time at all you'll be sorted.

Tan will mess up the table quite badly.

Gave mine a good rub with a cloth this week to clean it up, was terrified ID knock the tip off but didn't have any problems!
