Hi guys , I was asked a question the other day about the magic rack, and was asked is there a difference when racking the balls up with the magic rack having the Matt finish side up to the shiny side up ?? Can anyone shed some light on this ?

I'm guessing that the holes will be in exactly the same position as it's symmetrical and the rack is so thin, so no change in the tightness of the rack - difficult to measure if the reduced friction of the shiny side would make a significant difference to the speed of the balls sliding off the rack... I'm guessing again, but I reckon in the minimal time it would be in effect would mean that it would have little or no noticeable difference... ...But then again, I could be completely wrong. There's always the chance that the rough side grips the cloth better I suppose, but surely it all comes down to IF YOU NOTICE A DIFFERENCE OR NOT, because if you don't notice the difference then it hardly matters. I have been using MR for past 2 years and i use it on both sides and never noticed any diffrences. Corners of this racks like to roll up that why i turn around to make it flat. Same if i roll it up in to my case then i have to place on table up side down to make it flat. But never noticed any diffrence.

Thx guys , I didn't think would have any difference myself, to me it looks like the Matt finish side there to show the shiny finish logo through it and nothing else.

I bought a slug doctor from Dave and find these much better than the MR. well worth investing in if you want a consistant break as the ball are in exactly the same position every time (and saves having to remove it from table) only takes a few minutes to set up the table... and can easily be removed after use.

I think you had the last one of those Hinge - all 30 sold out now! If anyone wants to try it, see HINGE - maybe he'll let you borrow his!
