I just got a report that a Division Two player snap'ed the 9 on the break 7 times in a row in a money-match on the other poolhall here in Oslo just some hours earlier today!!! There was a "referee" chechking the rack the last 5 times...
Definitely a record in Norway. Anyone know of more Golden Breaks in a row???

That is either weird, extremely rare or else a wind up , but either way it's a nice thought lol I have made 2 golden breaks in a row and the most I've made in a match, is 4 golden breaks, but not in a row , but saying that, I really do explode the stack, when I break I have witnessed 3 in a row being done, the first 2 of those 3, the yellow ribbon went straight in and the 3rd, it got kicked in Other than this, I haven't seen any more than 3 consecutive golden breaks Willie

This stupid rule should be scrapped anyway. If I had 7 against me i would be slightly disappointed to say the least.
To be honest, even if the 9 went in during a rack, either by a fluke or a combo, i would play on to clear the table. 9 ball is a tough game, you don't get a choice of balls like 8ball, or a choice of reds or colours in snooker, its a hard game where good positional play is vital, so why add this stupid rule which in some ways just opens the game up to lesser players? Rant over but i agree if its true it is very strange!

I thought I heard something growl lol, it's great to have a good rant sometimes and get it out of your system lol the golden break rule is just a part of 9ball, that makes it the game that it is , but nowadays, the 9 doesn't drop as ften as it might've done before, because more players are concentrating on eliminating the 9 going down by trying their best to get a perfectly frozen rack , but this itself is not an easy task Willie

What do you think about my other point, clearing the table and forgetting any random 9's going in?
By the way, if i had the 9 down 7 times in a row from the break i wouldn't be proud i'd be extemely embarressed.

when we play for money in Victoria, there is the 'no farming' rule........it literally means that if you pot the nine on the break or combo the nine, then you don't automatically win, u have to clear up until the last ball, i.e. if the 9 is potted off a break, a fluke or a combo then the last money ball is then the 8-ball.........
if there is a neutral referee then its fine to play the normal rules but if i were to play for big money then I would insist on this 'no farming' rule........so yeah 412 i agree with u on this matter

The player is at ElbowRoom now playing tournament, and has just got his new nickname.
Øzgür "Mr. Seven" Simsek
Actually he is kind of embarrassed, but what can you do but laugh?
And regarding the rule: I think we should keep it!

me personally winning frame/rack from hit the balls as hard as you can from a break just doesnt di it for me! the golden break in 8 ball realy is a joke it makes no sense at least the 9b script with golden break makes sense with regards tio the rules of the game!
what does others think?

Why change a rule because someone doesn't agree with it, when it has been a rule in the game for many years? It's very much like it's a rule that 8ball players don't like because it may have been a case, that they lost a match to that happening , which is understandable in a way, but at the same time, you can't expect to play 9ball and then have the rules adjusted to how you want it to be, when you play any cue sport, it should be played, the way that the rules are intended for it to be played and not to suit players from other cue sports You wouldn't like it, if a 9ball player said that it's a stupid thing to have a smaller cueball for reds and yellows, would you? As reguards the golden break rule in 9ball, it should be kept, but as reguards the golden break rule in 8ball, I don't mind either way about it because it is not that often, that the 8ball would go in on the break anyways and so I don't see why it should a problem Willie [ This message was edited by: TheWizard on 2006-12-18 20:07 ]

I agree Mick! In 8ball it's not in keeping with the general rules........ However......... If you were to make all the colors of one set AND the 8 on the break! Now that would be worth the game! LOL. -----------------

thats my point! the rules state complete a set of seven balls then the 8ball so how on earth can you win the game by breaking and making the 8ball. v-silly rule!
the 9ball golden break is a catch 22 of course well within the rules of the game of course and i would imagine it would be a split opinion, lovers and haters!

I haven't got it either and to be perfectly honest, I don't want it either because every player SHOULD be racking the balls as tight as you possibly can and NOT setting them in any numerical order, other than by the rules, honestly and fairly Willie
