C'mon Earl... this one's pretty low... Watch the 5-ballFor many reasons: 1) Shouldn't have done it. 2) Didn't need to do it. 3) It showed a lack of respect to Charlie. Wasn't Charlie a fellow Mosconi Cup team-mate? 4) Very dissapointing that a World Champion and a player of Earl's talent feels the need to cheat in order to win a money match. 5) Etc... 6) etc... Any other views? BS

I would expect this of Earl. He is one of the biggest cheats out there! Every time he opens his big mouth he is sharking! It's all calculated! -----------------

The man is clearly mentally unstable and needs help rather than being constantly slagged off for his antics.

Was at this years mosconi, sitting front row near us team and he was even baiting his own team mates during the 3-somes. I was sitting next to Corey and John after their final day morning match and what they had to say about earl wasn’t too complimentary!

This is absolutely blatant and Earl must have known with it being televised that everyone would see what he had done, although whether he made that calculation in the heat of the moment knowing Earl's track record is doubtful. The thing I find amusing is the level of surprise that this clip has produced in the past and obviously continues to do so, almost as if we wouldn't expect a large proportion of top pros including Earl to 'cheat' in some form or other. I have witnessed occasions where several top UK pros have blatantly 'cheated' e.g. not calling fouls on themselves, sharking etc. etc.
Another example could have occurred in the Mosconi when Engert moved a ball with his arm that Nigel Rees spotted. Do you think he would have called this on himself if it hadn't have been spotted?
Whether we should expect this or another code of conduct at the top level is another question, but this certainly isn't a surprise.
In Earl's case he either has some psychological flaw that kicks in once he crosses the line or he is the most calculated shark exponent the game has ever seen.

Is everyone sure Earl definitely knew the 5 ball moved?

Oh he definately knew it moved, he must have seen it and must have felt it. If Charlie Williams could see it then Earl definately could!

May be I was just being british, but I thought he should have called it himself, but most of crowd had the attitude of “too much at stake” including the american… perhaps it’s a pool thing, it’s never been the most sporting of games.

I find it hard to believe that anyone wouldn't own up to it.

Maybe that would make an even more interesting poll then?
"You're playing in the Mosconi Cup and you make a small foul and the referee misses it, do you own up to it?"
On a side note... I thought the referees were brilliant this year, Michaela spotted everything and the way she even kept the fans (and players) in check was nothing short of brilliant.

The guy really has no class. On top of that he likes hunting I understand and I can't be doing with people like that. But saying that, he is box-office and probably good for the game.

Exactly - pool, or maybe the psyche of many pool players and fans, seems to be exempt from many of the things that we would consider as fair play or being a 'good sport' in other competitive sports. For me this is the one thing that tarnishes the game.

I really don't think that cueball hit the 8 on Nick's masse shot.
I think the power of the cueball being forced into the bed of the table made it move slightly.
