Hi,
As I'm taking a break from my Pool for a while now is an ideal time to get my cue back to tip-top shape. I've been playing with the current Elk Master for about three years and it's getting so bad now that I fear cracking the ferrule!
Anyway, the main thing that I need is somebody with a lathe that can take the shaft down a touch and clean up the ferrule. I need an ultra smooth finish that's going to let me use a closed bridge at times in the coming heat! Other than that, I'd like to get a pressed Elk Master tip that's 12mm and slightly overhangs my Z2 shaft. The butt of the cue has some small cosmetic issues that could also use touching up but it's not so important if it can't be done. Finally, it's an Ikon 4 (1st Gen) and if the bumper can be replaced that would be nice, even if it's not an official Predator one as I've been told that playing without it (and more importantly breaking with the cue!) can shatter the bottom of the cue.
I'm not really up for posting the cue to anybody (no offence!) but if it's close enough I'll travel and bring it down for the day and maybe if you're a player we can have a set too!
Cheers,
Phil

Have you found someone Phil? I would need someone to look after my ferrule.

Unfortunately not!
I'll give it a while but maybe I should do what I can for myself and then learn the rest...

Normally, I would say taking down the size of the shaft and smoothing it on a lathe would be a job any cuesmith with a lathe could do, and there are plenty of those banging about, for snooker for instance, but when you're talking about a Z2 shaft, it really needs to be someone who knows a fair bit about American Pool Cues, and they're as rare as hair on a billiard ball.
I know someone, but he's nowhere near your catchment area.

I ve got lathe at work just maybe someone tell me how to bite my ferrule. When I changed my first tip i make some scraches on ferrule and when it gets dirty I can see all these scratches and marks from sandpaper and nail varnish (lol) btw nail varnish is the best home tool to makes your ferrule flat for re-tip. Just wanna know what paper use to make ferrule smooth and do I need any ferrule or plastic polish for finale touch? Cheers Andy

I'll probably just get the cue as clean as I can without taking any real risks. I don't want to take it to any of the local Snooker shops as they can't even fit a tip that stays on, seriously!
