Hi, Eric Yow competes on the artistic pool tour in the US and masse shots are his speciality. I think all those shots are real. He is a huge talent. In case anyone's interested he uses a special masse cue made by Dieckman cues. They're much heavier than a standard cue and shorter too to help with the posture! A lot of the top 3 cushion players use them too. Thanks, Chris. [ This message was edited by: Chrstc on 2006-12-04 20:10 ]

Thanks Chris,
Well they are the best masse shots I have ever seen I thought if the video was real then he would be using a special cue to carryout the shots. They are very good and I very impressed!!
Thanks again chris, Phil

I appreciate it's a 6 or 7 foot table, but it's still pretty amazing that he still manages to get so much cue ball action considering the wear on the cloth.

Maybe he's got Simonis 300 on his table. The cloth does look pretty beat up.

Hey guys , it looks very much like the table has got Simmonis Carom Cloth, I think the Simmonis 300, like Craig has said, but also, he has the table heated, the amount of spin he gets on the snowball, even using a masse cue, is evident of that, I have seen the same effects that Semih Sayginer has performed on a carom tables, especially the shots ere the snowball hugs the rail like a bear because of the amount of spinology used The masse cues bu Diekman are familiar to me as I have given thought to obtaining one, but I will be keeping an open mind on this for some time yet Eric is a great artistic pool player, I have seen quite a few of his videos and I take my hat off to him , there are quite a few trickshots that he plays, that I have also played in the past, from just fooling around in practice, but still as enjoyable to play and even more so to watch Thanks for posting a great video link and I hope that this little bit of info helps that little bit more Willie

Great shots, but my guess is that the table is at least heated like Carom-tables.

Greetings! This is Eric Yow! Big Dave asked me to come clear this up, but not until after I had already seen the discussion, as Chris emailed me also. I just wanted to clear some things up for you gentlemen. The table is a 5 foot, heated table, with 300 Simonis, 3 inch lead balls, 5 inch pockets, with magnets under the table, strings from the ceiling, and an invisible monkey running all around (but you can't see him, only I can). HA! No seriously, I've heard them all, and I enjoy a good skeptic. I take it with a grain of salt. Actually, my table is a 4x8 Valley with Simonis 860. At the time I shot many of those masse shots the table was quite battered. The drawing on the felt in black is actually my name "YOW!" written in ink. (I'll try and post an image below.) The balls are normal balls, the pockets are normal pockets, and there isn't anything fake about what I do. The video you saw, however, was made by a fan who goes by the name Mr. Massacre. He has made several videos of mine (by his own volition) and is continually interested in doing more. This most recent one, though, portrays me going from "child to legend". However, the "child" portrayed in the video is not actually me, it's another fan named Angelo, whose video I put on my website (alongside me shooting the same shot he created). Mr. Massacre assumed (w/o reading) that the child was in fact me, and developed his video based on that premise. I actually have only been playing pool since I was 18, now 24. And I've yet to become a legend, in my own mind. But, I pray the Lord would take me down that road. I will be competing in the World Artistic Pool Championship December 8-10 in Minnesota, US. Wish me luck, and pray, if you will. If you want to see some of the videos that I have put together, I'm sure you will be all the more impressed. My newest is one from which Mr. Massacre derived his recent work. I call it Masse Insanity. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-0ly8Ee_7jMAnd don't forget to check out my website - www.ericyow.com Eric Yow's Trick Shot MadnessThanks guys! Welcome to Pro9, Eric and thank you for the post. What I am really interested in are the cues. I had a go with Mike Massey's Dennis Dieckman cue one year. Amazing thing. I think he said it was 32oz or something crazy like that.
I know Dennis doesn't make many cues anymore but if you can help with this at all, it would be appreciated.
Kind regards
Simon D'Vali
PS: awesome shots, I think you have a good chance of winning.

Nice vid Eric. But I think anyone who knows pool could see that all the shots were real. Excellent and very challenging, but real for sure! I'll save my masse video for a while! After seeing yours I think I need to practise a bit.(a bit, I wish) Well done mate and good luck! Jon. -----------------

I certainly appreciate the support. It's definitely cruncthtime with the WC 2 days away. But, I can't practice until the day of the event! See, I'm in law school here in the states and we have exams this week. So, I'll be going into the event cold. I'm not weary though, I know the Lord will carry me through.
My Dieckman masse cue is 24oz, so it's not quite as heavy as a carom masse cue, but still overweighted. Dieckman makes a GREAT cue, of the best, IMO. And he's still making cues as we speak. A few have gone through me to get a masse cue from him, and with good reason.
I wanted to mention, I'll be filming much of the WC event. I can't guarantee a date that I'll have a clip ready, but I plan to make an APTSA promotional clip to scatter around the web in hopes that it will instigate more interest in the sport, both from spectators and participants. I told Dave I'd post up my reaction to the WC in this forum. I'll try and get that video over here too. If you want to see more about the APTSA (or the WC), www.artisticpoolplayers.com
Thanks again, my friends. Because HE Lives, -yow!
