Now that I`ve been in the U.S now for over a year one thing that I`ve noticed is that ppl in the states don`t just play 9ball,straight pool,7ball,one pocket which is a brilliant game, improves your bank shots, kicks and angles, correct me if I`m wrong but I`ve never seen anyone in the uk play or know much about one pocket,I think you guys need to try these other games,I know some ppl play straight pool, but not many, just about most pool players over here can make bank shots to quite a high standard and when you play very good players and you think you have them safe, they`ll bank the ball,I think there realy is more to pool than just 9ball,which don`t get me wrong is a brilliant game.

Theres 2 of us in leeds that play 1hole, myself and Jason Devaney, Top class game and i think JonnyC is starting to pick it up too. Of the games 1hole is my favourite not my best but my favourite LOL I'm hoping to give rotation a go soon too, that looks extremely difficult. ----------------- [ This message was edited by: PC on 2006-11-29 01:23 ]

I hate to tell ya this, but I've been playing all these games for quite some time already, in fact, I started playing straight pool before I started playing 9-Ball, and so knowing and playing those games mentioned and more, are like another day at the office for me in terms of tournament play, it's no longer just 9-ball, there is 8-Ball and now Straight Pool being played now also, in fact over the past few years since the start of the Irish tour, we've had a all round tournament of 8-ball, 9-ball and 10-ball All the games that you have mentioned, I have already been playing over the years and I'm sure that alot of you may not have played or in some cases, even heard of, Cowboy, Honolulu, Cribbage, Equal Offence, Line Up Straight Pool, 15-Ball, to name a few , but in terms of the knowledge in the UK in general, naturally the UK has yet got a long way to go, but I can definitely say that the UK is really starting to catch on and fast I have also played alot of one-pocket and wouldn't mind challenging Ted at a game or maybe straight pool when I come over to play in a month or so, to the next Manchester Open event on the 10+11/2/07 See you all then Willie [ This message was edited by: TheWizard on 2006-11-29 07:07 ]

I have a question about one pocket. If you have ball in hand and there are balls behind de headstring. May you make one of these balls ?
I love the game but almost nobody plays it in my country.

Simple answer, yes.
It all depends which pocket you shoot in! If you pocket the ball behind the headstring into one of the 4 'dead' pockets, then it gets re-spotted. If you pot it in your own bag, point to you! If you pot it into your opponents bag, it gets re-spotted and you lose a point.

The surgeon.......i did not know you played much one pocket but i think you have misinterpreted the rules after a scratch or off table shot (the only way to get ball in hand) the white ball must be played out of the kitchen as there will normally be a fouled ball put up onto the spot if the person who commited the foul has no balls to spot and all other balls are behind the headstring then the ball lowest down the table will be spotted up and the shooter will shoot for that. Hope that has helped to try and clarify things? JonnyC will play you i'm sure or you can try myself or Jason. ----------------- [ This message was edited by: PC on 2006-11-30 00:51 ]

It would only get respotted if you followed the ball in with the cueball.

Also when you have ball in hand after a scratch, you can only shoot forward of the line.
If all balls are behind the line, the closest object ball to the gets spotted. This can only happen if neither player has any points as any foul would result in a point lost i.e. You have to lose a ball when you foul
