Interesting question for a first post. What's your background ariel and why do you ask this?

Sounds like a 'computer games writer' sort of question?

Just get a hold of a copy of virtual pool 3 you can actually play that online and it's still the most realistic pool sim on the market..... it can actually improve your real game Just goto www.celeris.com

Just goto www.celeris.com While i agree that Virtual Pool 3 is probably the best pool game out there i can't really see how it can improve your real game. There is zero cub ball deflection no matter how much side you use so unless your using some sort of super predator cue its not really like playing for real.

Nice flag Craig Those VP3 TrickShot competitions were CRAZY... Did you see some of those shots? I know someone who won some of those competitions - he created totally new trick shots, completely outlandish ones that they'd never allow you to try at your club! Nice videos in VP3 too!

ok agreed that there is no cue ball deflection but the angles are the same and the principles of using spin etc can be translated to real pool, just play a game in practice and turn on the tracking lines and you'll see, even transfer of side to object ball is included.
I have spoken to the guy who made it in the past and if there was ever a vp4 to come out it would have all the slight niggles improved...e.g. Deflection, bad cusion bounces, kicks etc

Nice videos in VP3 too! I never saw those comps but i wish i had!! I can imagine there would be some pretty wild shots. The amount of masse you can get on the cb is totally unbelivable. Like i said above the amount of spin you can get is pretty unrealistic. I've got a pretty big draw stroke but i could never draw a ball like you can in the game.

Hello, I've got Virtual Pool Hall which includes Virtual Pool 2 and there is definitely cue ball deflection in that game. You can miss almost anything if you play it with enough side. Strange if that isn't a feature of VP 3, then... Maybe it was confusing those gamers who don't play pool "for real" and they took it out or something? Virtual Pool Hall doesn't work properly with Windows XP unfortunately so I have to play it on my older machine but the pool instructional videos by Mike Sigel and the trickshots by Lou Butera are top class. Well worth the £5 or so it'll cost you on eBay if you have an older computer!
Thanks, Chris.

I used to play VP3 through Gamespy up until they decided to make you have to buy the CD again.
It does help you see patterns I know that for sure. But you fall into the trap of playing shots which would be impossible to play in real life, due to it's draw/spin capabilities.

To be honest that for me was what made the game fun "I'll knock this ball in with some low left english, go 17 rails and i should be in perfect shape" lol.
