I'll be running a tournament every Thursday at 7.30 pm in the new Riley's in Barnsley. It will be £5 entry, first round played in groups then single elim. All entries paid out in prize money. This is a great new cub so if you haven't been to check it out get yourselves down there on Thursday night.

Leeds is a great comp but this will have a few differences. The main one being that we will be working to GMT time so we'll start at the published time of 7.30, whereas in Leeds Si borrows a watch from Ted that's used for the BPPPA events!

He is in trouble now, nevermind next year :-|

I seem to recall the Barnsley contingent not turning up until 7.15 last Wednesday! If I had used your super, strict watch keeping....it would have been scratch central.

Hey, not a pro tour....just a lot of lads and lasses getting together for a knees up.

In terms of american pool players in Barnsley we only really have myself, Nick Wollerton, Dave Wright (though he's away with Darren in Manilla at the moment) and Karl Milner. But this event is intended to get the local lads interested in the game and I hope it becomes a fun weekly meet up. There's also been some interest from the Sheffield boys, including Terry Hunt. And I hope my friends in Leeds come down too.

Just kidding Si... but you bite so easily :D Your's is a great event, really well run, and a relaxed atmosphere which is what gave me the idea for this one in Barnsley. Was just teasing you a little cos it's meant to be 6-30 for 7pm start but we're always too chilled out catching up on the week's gossip to bother getting started on time! So I'm gonna make a concerted effort to start promtly in Barnsley especially because we're starting a bit later and will be playing round robin. These will be short races (prob race to 3) so we should have no problem fitting all the macthes in even in a round robin format.

Eating out Thursday but I will endeavour to get down to the next one. I can bring a car full next week. Race to 3 though??

PS: just for you, any one arriving at 6.31 GMT this Wednesday will be scratched :-P

I'll be there at 6.29 prompt Wednesday Si!

Would be great if you could bring a few next Thursday. I may play more than race to 3 but it really depends how many are in the groups and what standard of player turn up. There'll be some beginners so I'd rather give people 3 matches in a short race so they get to play different players. I'm just not sure a round robin format could support longer races without it dragging on too long. Might go for race to 4 at 9 ball and race to 3 8 ball but it all depends on how many turn up.

I'm also planning on running a straight knockout losers event for everyone who doesn't get through the groups.
