Hi All

Lots of talk previously regarding a team league being set up etc..... Well I'm now in a position where I can commit a bit more time to this and have decided to announce the following:

Southern Team Championship 2011/2012

4 Players per team - Matches played one Sunday evening per month
Starts (hopefully) September 2011

Team Venues will need to be based in either of the following counties:
Essex
Suffolk
Cambs
Kent
Herts
Greater London

Format would be 2 Groups (hopefully 8 teams per group), with everyone playing each other once (home or away). Once all League fixtures are complete, the top 2 from each will progress to Finals Day and play Semi's & Final for Trophies and Prize Money.
Groups will be determined on geographical location to try and limit travelling for teams. Any number of teams can play out of the same venue.

Match Format will be as follows:

Best of 5 Sets - Each Set Race to 5.
1 Set for each Player and the 5th set played by the Captain's Choice.
GB9 rules would apply - 3 point rule, alternate break etc.
Each Team would be allowed only 1 Pro.

All entry fees will be paid out in prize fund, trophies and admin etc (I will keep admin costs to a minimum and use email as much as poss to save on printing etc).

I am hoping that Venues will allow the tables to be free play for matches :-)

If anyone is interested in this or has any suggestions as to how to improve it (or if you think its just a stupid idea...lol), please pm me here, text me on 07540 096631 or message me on facebook

I'm sure Suffolk would be good for a team and I am certain we could use Rileys Ipswich as a venue mate, we have our own table which would be fine on free play.

Great idea, but I think I'm misunderstanding something here, if matches were played one Sunday evening each month and there were up to 8 teams per group, then wouldn't the group stages take 14 months?

Also, prob worth clarifiying what the reserves policy would be, could you for example register 8 players, but only use 4 on any one night?

VJ - the group stage would involve playing everyone only ONCE. I didn't write the home / away bit very clearly. Each team would play an even number of home and away matches in all (similar to how EPA interleague works)

On the issue of reserves etc....a team can register up to 8 players for the season. 5 players can play on the night (5th set is captains choice from the first 4 or any other registered player).

Hope that makes sense?

Right then guys, thought I'd do a little list of the possible teams so far:

Legends (Braintree, Essex) - 2 Teams
Basildon - 2 Teams
Ipswich - 1 Team
Gravesend, Kent - 1 Team
Cambridgeshire - 1 Team
Sussex - 2 Teams (I'm aware of travelling)

Also been told there would be a lot of interest possible from dorset and surraounding.

Was hoping there might be more interest from London / Herts areas???

Should here today about possible sponsors....watch this space :-)

The teams will be split based on location which should limit the travelling for everybody.

Have letters and promo stuff going to individual clubs over the coming days - will have a much better idea of numbers within the next couple of weeks
