hello all, looking to improve the most important shot in 9-ball - the break. I've just got a predator BK2 but now I want to get the tightest rack possible (Plastic rileys racks are rubbish) Does anyone know what the best wooden racks are or where to find them? Thanks for any tips Expertfluke

the wooden racks where the inside goes to a point rather than a curve usually the tightest.
or you could spend a bit of cash and get the new light weight Sardo Tight Rack (but i think the table has to be tapped, not so sure)
and there is a rack called the chameleon which is quite tight. I think Justin Anderson has some for sale!

You can do it just as tightly without a triangle.
Place the 1 ball on the spot, then the next 7 balls cupped tightly between your hands, then place the last ball behind the cluster.
No use if you have shaky hands though...
I do recommend the sardo though...

In fact they used them in the NA Open (obviously) on untapped tables. I was surprised the tables weren't tapped but I believe the theory was that the new napped cloth would get naturally tapped in over time as the Sardo presses down on the balls in exactly the same place every rack. If I didn't need to carry it around e.g for a table at home, I'd go for the Sardo M5000, but it's not very portable and you need to mark out the placement points on the table to use it. So for something a little more practical I like the 'roll-a-rack'.

Thanks for the tips - I agree the Sardo might not be the the most portable and that the wooden rack that goes to a point might be the best option. True to form - the scots man suggests 'there's no need to buy a rack just use your hands' Now that's being tight in more ways than one!!  Cheers Expertfluke

just seen your post. a bit late!
We recently bought a roller-rack from www.seyberts.com. it cost about £30 UK but it gave a real tight rack, until some little theiving gypsy nicked it. Darn
(plus, it costs alot less than a sardo)

That's the whole point destroyer - my potting is so bad that the best chance I have iof making a ball is on the break!
PS: Cheers Cowie I'll have a look at that roller rack. It's a shame you've had some sticky fingers wandering into your club - you can never tell where Destroyer will turn up next!

I have to disagree with the observation that forum poster 'Bruno' is "tight".
Personally, I found him to be anything but.
In fact, several wild horses couldn't hold him back from insisting that he buy the next round of Babyshams...
Just 'insisting' mind... He didn't actually buy any.
But that's good enough for me.
"Tight"? - Naw. "Frugal"? - maybe.
PS. Can I 'borrow' your Sardo (when you get it) from you Bruno? Just for a wee while...

Roll-a-racks are the best wooden racks in my opinion.
There is a problem in production ive been told at the moment they arent currently making any.
Tried to order 20 from my wholesaler she could only give me 10 which cleared her out.
Hopefully its just a temporay problem but if you do want one id order it soon.
